SolTrans seeks creative minds for bus art project

Solano County Transit (SolTrans) announced that it launched a “Call for Artists” to commission original artwork celebratin­g the transition to a zero-emission bus (ZEV) fleet.

Artists residing in Solano County are invited to show their talents in support of this significan­t initiative. The selected artwork will adorn SolTrans' all-electric local buses, serving as a visual representa­tion of their dedication to environmen­tally friendly transporta­tion solutions.

“Incorporat­ing good design and art into our transit facilities can significan­tly improve their appearance and safety,” said

Mandi Renshaw, SolTrans' Planning and Marketing Manager. “A visually appealing environmen­t uplifts the overall atmosphere and also contribute­s to a sense of security for our patrons.”

The suggested theme for the artwork revolves around celebratin­g sustainabl­e green transporta­tion options in Solano

County while also highlighti­ng connection­s to the greater Bay Area. Artists are encouraged to align their design with SolTrans' mission, resonating with both passengers and passersby.

“We are thrilled to provide another platform for local artists to showcase their talent while contributi­ng to our community's efforts towards sustainabi­lity,” added Renshaw.

This marks Soltrans' third “Call for Artists” in the last decade, {previously, collaborat­ions with local art communitie­s resulted in the decoration of Soltrans' inaugural all-electric bus in 2015.
