SolTrans seeks creative minds for bus art project
Solano County Transit (SolTrans) announced that it launched a “Call for Artists” to commission original artwork celebrating the transition to a zero-emission bus (ZEV) fleet.
Artists residing in Solano County are invited to show their talents in support of this significant initiative. The selected artwork will adorn SolTrans' all-electric local buses, serving as a visual representation of their dedication to environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
“Incorporating good design and art into our transit facilities can significantly improve their appearance and safety,” said
Mandi Renshaw, SolTrans' Planning and Marketing Manager. “A visually appealing environment uplifts the overall atmosphere and also contributes to a sense of security for our patrons.”
The suggested theme for the artwork revolves around celebrating sustainable green transportation options in Solano
County while also highlighting connections to the greater Bay Area. Artists are encouraged to align their design with SolTrans' mission, resonating with both passengers and passersby.
“We are thrilled to provide another platform for local artists to showcase their talent while contributing to our community's efforts towards sustainability,” added Renshaw.
This marks Soltrans' third “Call for Artists” in the last decade, {previously, collaborations with local art communities resulted in the decoration of Soltrans' inaugural all-electric bus in 2015.
