Vacaville baseball defeats Fairfield

Buckingham Charter softball cruises to win

The Vacaville High baseball team defeated Fairfield 2-0 on Friday behind a combined three-hitter from pitchers Nik Rostak and Kai Davis.

Rostak pitched five innings and struck out 11 batters while allowing three hits. Davis pitched two hitless innings.

The Bulldog offense was led by Rome Griego, who had two hits and a run. Caden Whitten had one hit and scored the other run.

Vacaville stayed in first place in the Monticello Empire League as the Bulldogs improved to 7-1 in the MEL and 13-5 overall.

Rodriguez 8, Wood 4

The Will C. Wood baseball team lost to Rodriguez 8-4 on Friday.

Bryan Smith led the Wildcats with two hits, while Michael Torres also had two hits. Jake Durant and Michael Minor also had an RBI.

Wood fell to 5-13 overall and 2-7 in the Monticello Empire League with the loss.

Vanden 12, Armijo 2

The Vanden High baseball team defeated Armijo 12-2 on Friday.

Cayne Hill had three hits and six RBI in the win for the Vikings. Jack Tranchina had a hit and two RBI, while Austin Hammerschm­idt also knocked in two runs.

Chris Marley pitched five innings and struck out five while allowing four hits.

Softball Wood 9, Armijo 5

The Will C. Wood softball team defeated Armijo 9-5 on Thursday.

Aubrey Redline led the Wildcats with Madisyn Farnham collecting two hits and two RBI. Karly Sampson also collected three hits.

Farnham earned the win in the circle by allowing three earned runs while striking out eight.

Buckingham Charter 15, Leroy Greene 0

The Buckingham Charter softball team threw a combined no-hitter and defeated Leroy Greene Academy 15-0 on Thursday.

Haley Griffin picked up the win and went two innings, striking out five. Atlas Ebert went two innings (three strikeouts) and Tamia Cendejas closed out the final inning (two strikeouts).

The Knights scored six in the first inning and were sparked by a leadoff home run by Annalyn Steh, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

Sophia Burrell collected three hits and scored a run, Jordan Walberg had two hits, including a double, while Arianna Martinez had two hits and two runs driven in. Makayla Tonn had a hit and scored three runs, while Marianne Cabanlig had two hits and an RBI.
