Dale joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at March Air Force Base in 1958. Dale met the love of his life, Jeannette, while stationed at March and they were married in June 1964. Also, in 1964 at 23, Dale became a real estate agent and in 1969, opened Sexton Real Estate. Over the next 53 years Dale built Sexton Realty into one of the top Riverside real estate agencies. Dale was a very special person, kind and generous, always putting everyone before himself, enjoying long-standing relationships with buyers, sellers, and developers. Many have become close family friends. Dale had a love of adventure and was a motorcycle rider and “Off-road” racer. In 1979 he won the BAHA 500, racing his truck in the class 8 division. Dale was a pilot until he gave up his license after suffering a heart attack. Dale was a member of the Riverside Rancheros for many years. He was an accomplished equestrian, often going on rides with family and friends. Dale passed his love for competitive racing down to his children, Shelli raced horses and Dale Jr. raced cars, both racing competitively. The Sextons resided on the Sexton Ranch in Riverside. His grandson Dylan, born in 2001, referred to by Dale as, “The Chairman of the Board,” spent his first few years riding around Riverside on Grandpa’s shoulders. Dale is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeannette Lou Vermillion Sexton, his children, Shelli Lynn Sexton Lockhart and Dale Wayne Sexton Jr., grandson, Dylan Sexton Stark, and son-in-law Brian Lockhart.

Dale is also survived by his three younger siblings, Jimmie Foreman of Lee’s Summit, MO, Bernice Rizzi of Carlsbad, CA, his brother Donald Sexton of Atkins, AR. and his paternal aunt, Maxine Sexton of Harrison, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Walter Sexton and Alice Leona Smith and his sister Lou Ella Freeman, and brother Lewis Edward Sexton. Dale drank his coffee every morning from a cup upon which this poem was written by one of his close friends. Love God gives to thee an abundance of love, through friends and family, from heaven above. Try as you will all your love to give, you’ll have plenty still, for as long as you live. For love is to share and not meant to store, show others you care, and you’ll always have more. God did not place love in your heart to stay for love is not love, until you give it away! In lieu of flowers... As Dale would advise, save your money, and buy real estate! Donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Daughter, Shelli and the Sexton Team, Nickie, Angie, Dylan, John and Lindsay are all there to carry on Dale’s family business. The legend, Dale Sexton, shall live on in our hearts forever! Interment will be private at Riverside National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at Riverside Rancheros, 1198 Washington St., Riverside, CA on August 20, 2022, at 4 pm.
