See what is cooking in Colton, Moreno Valley and San Bernardino
We’ve been keeping an eye on Happy Boy Tacos & Mariscos whenever we drove through Reche Canyon in Colton and it’s finally open, with a slight twist.
Now open is El Mushasho Alegre, a play on the phrase “the happy boy” (in Spanish: “el muchacho alegre”).
The restaurant offers a variety of Mexican fare, including tacos and seafood.
Hours are 10:45 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-thursday and 10:45 a.m.10 p.m. Friday-sunday.
El Mushasho Alegre is at 2671 Reche Canyon Road, in the spot that was formerly the Canyon Cottage Restaurant.
Open in San Bernardino
A new Mexican restaurant also has opened in San Bernardino.
Rancho Alegre is open at 1987 Diners Court.
The location has been home to several restaurants and nightclubs over the years, including The 20/20 Bar and Grill, Margarita Beach, 340 East and, if memory serves, The Pig’s Ear Pub.
The restaurant’s Facebook page said it is a “Mexican restaurant with modern Mexican food, seafood, steaks and pastas. Full bar: Cocktails, margaritas, micheladas.”
The Facebook page also said it offers live entertainment on occasion.
Now in Moreno Valley
The Buffalo Spot, which offers boneless and bone-in chicken wings, salads, wraps and “world famous” buffalo fries, continues to expand in the Inland Empire.
A new location opened recently at 12515 Frederick St., Suite A1, Moreno Valley.
Hours are 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. daily. It’s the fifth Inland Empire location for the chain, following locations in Riverside, Chino Hills, Colton and Rialto.
Get your hot chicken
The hot chicken craze finally has come to cheesesteaks.
Philly’s Best Cheesesteaks is spicing up summer with its new Nashville Hot Chicken Cheesesteak.
As with the rest of Philly’s Best’s cheesesteaks, the Nashville Hot Cheesesteaks are prepared to order on a seasoned flat-top grill with melted white American cheese and wrapped in an authentic Amoroso’s roll brought in from the East Coast.
The spicy filling also can be used to top the chain’s salads or cheesesteak fries.
Inland Empire Philly’s Best locations include Ontario, Chino, Mira Loma and San Dimas.
$10 eats at Red Robin
Red Robin has launched a new, limited-time $10 meal deal.
The $10 Gourmet Meal Deal includes bottomless steak fries, a soft drink, tea or lemonade and one of three burgers.
Guests can choose either the Banzai, Whiskey River BBQ or Red Robin Gourmet Cheeseburger.
The deal is valid through July 31 and is available for dine-in only at participating locations.
Inland Empire Red Robin locations include Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, Redlands, Corona, Temecula, Chino, Hemet, Menifee, Victorville, Apple Valley, San Dimas and La Quinta.
Free fries at Fatburger
Although National Fry Day was Wednesday, Fatburger is generously still giving away free fries.
The chain is offering guests a free order of fries — Fat Fries or Skinny Fries — with any purchase through July 19.
To redeem, simply mention the deal when ordering in person or use code Frenchfryday22 when ordering online. Inland Empire Fatburger locations include Rancho Cucamonga, Corona, Fontana, Eastvale, Hesperia and Barstow.
A Cabazon location is temporarily closed, according to the chain’s website and a Riverside location that opened in 2020 appears to have shut down earlier this year.
