Nominations open for Education Medal of Honor
Nominations are open through 4:30 p.m. Thursday for two San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools awards, the Education Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Award.
Nominations for the 32nd annual Education Medal of Honor are being accepted in six categories: volunteer in action/community volunteer; volunteer in action/service group; partners in education/small business or franchise; partners in education/corporation or government agency; excellence in education/education professional; and excellence in education/student alumni.
Nominations should focus on ways in which an individual or organization makes an impact or lasting contribution, serves as a positive role model and creates an awareness and support for public education in communities across San Bernardino County, according to a news release.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals for exceptional leadership and significant contributions to public education in the county.
Criteria for nominations include how nominees have improved the quality of education in the county, and through their efforts, have achieved a positive, ongoing impact on significant segments of public education within a school district or throughout the county or region.

Award recipients will be recognized at a ceremony during the spring meeting of the San Bernardino County School Boards Association.
