Casinos deal food, entertainm­ent options

Love is in the air at Southern California’s casinos.

If you want to set the mood this Valentine’s weekend or commemorat­e the actual day Tuesday, casinos’ live entertainm­ent, dining specials and spa treatments could be the ticket.

Yaamava’ Resort & Casino is also offering a Galantine’s Day special if a celebratio­n with your closest friends sounds a bit more appealing.

All dining specials included below are for Tuesday only unless otherwise noted. Reservatio­ns should be made.

In addition to offering dining specials at The Bistro, Fresh Grill Buffet and POM, the Indio-area casino will host singersong­writer Hunter Hayes at 8 p.m. Saturday. Hayes has several love songs, such as “This Girl,” “Secret Love” and “Wanted.” Tickets are $39-$59.

THE BISTRO >> Specialty dishes such as a heart-shaped spicy tuna roll topped with a soy honey glaze and mango salsa ($20), twin petite filet mignon Oscar-style and a 7-ounce Maine lobster tail with aged cheddar potato soufflé and asparagus ($75 per person). Dessert options include chocolate mocha cake with raspberry coulis ($12). Available 5-10 p.m.

FRESH GRILL BUFFET >> The all-you-caneat buffet will have options such as Alaskan snow crab legs, oysters on the half shell, New Zealand mussels, smoked salmon, prime rib and maple-roasted turkey breast, Boursin-crusted baked fillet of salmon, chicken cordon bleu, New York steak, herb-roasted leg of lamb and other dishes. Available 11 a.m.-9 p.m. $44.99 for adults, $34.99 for kids, free for kids 3 or younger.

POM >> A three-course meal with a starter of hot shrimp with butter spices, a garden salad and King’s Hawaiian rolls; entrée is steamed Alaskan crab legs with Old Bay spice and butter, crabcakes, butterfly shrimp, spicy shoestring fries and Lowcountry coleslaw with Creole-style rice pilaf. Dessert is a chocolate mousse cake with fresh whipped cream and raspberry sauce. Available 5-11 p.m. for $49 per person.

The resort will host rock duo Air Supply at 8 tonight and offer a Valentine’s Day add-on for its rooms. Tickets start at $39.50. The “Funner’s For Lovers” room package includes a preset room with heartshape­d balloons, felt rose petals, Hershey’s chocolate and a towel origami arrangemen­t. A late checkout of 1 p.m. is also part of the deal.

Morongo Casino, Resort & Spa

R&B and soul group Tony! Toni! Toné! will perform at Morongo at 9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at $150. The casino will also offer dining and spa specials.

CIELO >> A three-course meal for two has a starter of Buffalo mozzarella, lemon arugula, dehydrated strawberry and pesto; entrée includes a 42-ounce prime tomahawk steak with jumbo black tiger prawns, ricotta cheese gnocchi and honey glazed carrots. For dessert, a chocolate truffle cake with raspberry coulis and chocolate almond crumble. Available 4-11 p.m. for $298.

FIESTA TACO >> Two lime-grilled shrimp tacos with guacamole, cabbage, pico de gallo, Baja sauce, grilled jalapeño, Mexican rice and beans. Available 11 a.m.-10 p.m. for $14.99 per person.

GOOD TIMES CAFÉ >> A surf and turf special features filet mignon and Oscar-style lobster, asparagus, hollandais­e, potato purée and micro herbs. Dessert is a red velvet cheesecake. Available 11 a.m.-midnight for $47.99 per person.

PIT STOP DINER >> Located next door at Casino Morongo, the restaurant will offer a cut of filet mignon with skewered garlic herb shrimp, baby squash, mashed potato and bourbon demi-glace. Available 11 a.m.10 p.m. for $35.99 per person.

SAGE SPA & SALON >> The “Color Me Cupid” special includes a haircut with any color service. The “Better Together” treatment includes a couples Swedish massage with your choice of aromathera­py and a warm stone enhancemen­t followed by a glass of Champagne for $265.

The casino will host Venezuelan singer Jose Luis Rodriguez, aka “El Puma” and known for his romantic ballads, at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $35-$90. The casino is also offering a Valentine’s Day dinner at Taproom 29. The surf and turf main course includes a 6-ounce filet and lobster tail, mashed potato, baby carrots, asparagus, chocolate lava cake with chocolate-covered strawberri­es and a bottle of Champagne. $86 for two with a player’s card.
