Beachfront home with firepit in pool selling for $55M

- By Sandra Barrera sbarrera@scng.com

A Monarch Beach home has hit the market with an asking price of $55 million.

It could become Dana Point’s most expensive home sold if it beats the $33 million off-market deal from March 2022.

The six-bedroom, 9,630-square-foot residence with eight bathrooms stands three stories over the sand in guardgated The Strand at Headlands. It was built by Elijahu Shapira, co-founder of the web analytics company Webtrends.

Records show Shapira and his wife, Anne, purchased the property in 2012 for $8.6 million.

Completed in 2018, the custom build by Brown Brothers Construction using architectural plans from C.J. Light and Associates sits on a quarter-acre lot with direct access to the beach and 70 feet of waterfront.

The foyer holds a floating staircase with in-wall LED bulbs and curvilinear wood and glass detailing. According to the listing, all custom lighting is by Ron Neal Lighting Design. A commercial-grade elevator alternatively stops on all floors.

Beyond the foyer on the main level is the great room that combines the living, dining and kitchen in one space. It opens to an ocean-facing outdoor deck with ocean and Catalina Island views stretching as far north as Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Views also abound from indoors, including the two top-level primary suites. Though they offer ocean-view decks and freestanding bathtubs, only the main suite boasts two walk-in closets and separate vanities.

The bottom level of the home is made for entertaining. It features a wet bar, a wine room and a home theater.

Disappearing glass walls extend the space to the terrace’s sizeable covered seating area and outdoor bar, raised spa and pool that features a sunken fire pit seating area. Additional highlights include a sauna, a courtyard with a Zen garden and home-scent tech in the HVAC system.

Arlen Raubach of Compass has the listing.
