Walgreens and Newsom

-

It’s politics as usual for Newsom as he claims “He’s done with Walgreens” (March 7). Apparently he doesn’t want the state of California to do business with Walgreens because the Rx firm won’t send abortion pills to Republican-led states. I would imagine other Rx retailers will be in this same predicament. Walgreens is simply complying with the laws of that state that prohibits such action. Isn’t complying with the law (regardless of your personal or political affiliation) what should be the issue? California requires my out-of-state purchases (Amazon, ebay, Etsy, etc.) be taxed so California can receive those taxes. If those entities didn’t comply, they also would be breaking the law. Newsom can’t pick and choose and have it both ways. His spite toward Republicans is so repugnant.

Great Park amphitheater project in Irvine: so green

Re “Cheers and boos for venue proposal” (March 7):

Irvine leaders are constantly boasting about how “green” is our city. They’ve even spent $450,000 for a consultant to tell us how to make it even greener. The amphitheater is as anti-“green” as the countless entertainment programs the city sponsors and advertises, requiring tens of thousands of automobile trips, year after year. Thousands of parents drive their children to school, drive back home and then return to pick them up, day after day. The ishuttle drives from the Rail Center to John Wayne Airport, mostly empty. Investigate these for us. Reporters, show pictures and present facts on how inconsistent and hypocritical are Irvine’s pretensions of environmental piety.

Fox News lawsuit and the other networks, too

Re “Fox libel defense at odds with top GOP candidates” (Mar. 7):

Looks like the mainstream media really hit the trifecta in this blockbuster story, Fox News, Donald Trump and 2020 election fraud . . . the icing on the cake being allegations of defamation and false claims against the nation’s most-watched network.

Doesn’t get any better than that, does it? I’m waiting for similar news reports on the rampant lies told by CNN, MSNBC and others regarding Russian collusion, the origins of COVID-19 and the Jan. 6 “insurrection,” among other false claims perpetrated by them and other news outlets.

Should be forthcoming any day now, right?
