Browns put an end to 49ers' winning streak

-

Rookie Jake Moody missed a 41-yard field goal with six seconds left, leaving visiting San Francisco stunned 19-17 by the Cleveland Browns, who ended the 49ers’ regular-season winning streak at 15 on Sunday and handed quarterback Brock Purdy his first loss as an NFL starter.

Dustin Hopkins kicked four field goals for the Browns (3-2) — the last with 1:40 left, capping a drive helped by a disputed unnecessary roughness call against San Francisco (5-1). Cleveland pulled off the upset without quarterback Deshaun Watson, who missed his second straight game with a bruised right shoulder.

The 49ers came in looking nearly unbeatable after destroying Dallas 42-10 at home last week. But Cleveland’s defense was up to the task, and the 49ers were short-handed without playmakers Christian Mccaffrey and Deebo Samuel, who both went out with injuries.

P.J. Walker came off Cleveland’s practice squad and outplayed Purdy, who threw his first interception this season and finished with just 125 yards.

The Jets (3-3) appeared on their way to falling to 0-13 in their history against the Eagles, but Hurts’ third interception of the game — and the fourth turnover by Philadelphia (5-1) — was returned by Adams 45 yards to put New York into immediate scoring position.

Hall’s run shook Metlife Stadium as Jets fans went wild, then Zach Wilson connected with Randall Cobb on a 2-point conversion.

The Lions won their fourth straight game and are off to a 5-1 start for the first time since 2011.

The Lions’ defense did its part by intercepting Baker Mayfield once and limiting the Bucs (3-2) to 251 yards of total offense.

DOLPHINS 42, PANTHERS 21 >> Tua Tagovailoa threw three touchdown passes and sparked Miami to a comeback home victory over winless Carolina (0-6).

After Miami (5-1) fell into an early 14-point hole,

BENGALS 17, SEAHAWKS 13 >> Joe Burrow threw two early TD passes and Cincinnati (3-3) held off visiting Seattle.

The Bengals defense stopped the Seahawks (3-2) in the red zone twice late.
