-

The West End Auxiliary of Children’s Fund invites women in the community to join the Claremont-based auxiliary that helps vulnerable children.

The West End Auxiliary supports Children’s Fund through a variety of fundraisers and projects, such as its Seeds of Opportunity scholarship dinner to be held March 2 at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel in Pomona. The event will include a live auction and Fund a Cause to provide scholarships for children that will be available through Children’s Fund and can be used for after-school programs, music, art and athletics, according to a news release.

Children’s Fund is a San Bernardino-based nonprofit that supports agencies and nonprofits serving children experiencing poverty, abuse or neglect.

The West End Auxiliary’s recent activities have included an October Mad Hatter’s Tea where attendees donated more than 100 children’s books to be distributed through the Children’s Assessment Center in San Bernardino; participating in the 35th annual Celebration of Giving toy drive for Children’s Fund; providing crafts for foster children at the

Padua Hills Holiday Spectacular in December; and making 140 fleece blankets for the Children’s Assessment Center, plus donating $1,030 in other items to the center.

During the holiday season, the West End Auxiliary also gave $10,000 in gift cards to the Children’s Fund to distribute to teenagers in the foster care system, according to the news release.

The auxiliary was able to give $100,000 to Children’s

Fund in 2022 through its teas, scholarship dinner and community and associate sponsorships, according to the news release.

Mary P. Wallace and Barbara Williams are co-presidents of the West End Auxiliary. The group’s next meeting is Thursday at Granite Creek Community Church in Claremont.
