A new event, the Southern California Dance Festival, will occur at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 at Lakeside High School in Lake Elsinore.

The festival, hosted by the Lake Elsinore High School’s dance department, is produced by Tracy Kofford, director of dance at Santa Barbara

City College; Myshia Leboss, past president of California Dance Education Associatio­n; and Rosalina Macisco, executive and artistic director of Santa Barbara Dance Institute.

The festival’s objective is to provide a platform for choreograp­hers to present their work, and performers will range from high school and college groups to profession­al and preprofess­ionals, according to a news release.

Among the participan­ts are CHAMPS Charter High School of the Arts; FUSE Dance Company, Joshua D. Estradarom­ero, artistic director; Jazz Spectrum Dance Company, Janell Burgess, artistic director; Jose Costas Contempo Ballet; Kairos

Dance Company, Hazel Clarke, artistic director; Lebosscoda­nce, Myshia Leboss, artistic director; SBCC Dance Company, Tracy R. Kofford, artistic director; and State Street Ballet profession­al track, Meredith Ventura, artistic director.

Tickets are $15 for the general public, available at lebosscoda­nce.org/ scdf.html. Those who live in the 92530 ZIP code may buy discounted tickets at the door.

Lakeside High School is at 32593 Riverside Drive in Lake Elsinore, and doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
