`The Genesis Story,' a new musical, will be presented by Lifehouse Theater

Redlands’ Lifehouse Theater will present a new original musical, “The Genesis Story,” opening 7 p.m. today.

“The Genesis Story” is a retelling of the biblical book of Genesis, including the Genesis creation story as told by Seth, one of the sons of Adam and Eve, according to a news release. The musical also tells the story of Adam and Eve and their sons Cain and Abel, and leads up to the time of Noah.

“We are thrilled to continue presenting new biblical productions,” Wayne Scott, Lifehouse founder and president, said in the news release. “‘The Genesis Story’ conveys the first stories of the Bible in a fun and creative way.”

Rick Arias, who wrote Lifehouse Theater’s musicals “The Disciples of Jesus” and “Abraham and Sarah,” wrote “The Genesis Story” and is directing the production. Sarah Pearce is assistant director and music director.

Others on the production staff are Jennifer M. Dewitt, choreographer; Beth Derry, costumer; Jacob Michel, set designer; Stacey Monsma, production assistant; and Josiah Evans, lighting and sound designer.

In the cast are Jeremy Kruizenga as Adam, Amanda Kruizenga as Eve, Aaron Ramos as Seth, Mandy Michel as Adah, Luke Michel as Cain and Levi Michel as Abel.

In the angel choir are Diana Handy, Sophia Frazier, Melissa Osadchuck, Hannah Pinkus and Leah Simpson. Others in the cast are Cyrus Duffy, Paxton Melashenko, Canon Robertson, Christian Box, Josiah Evans and Morgan Evans.

After opening night, performances are 7 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through March 24. There is one Thursday performance, at 7 p.m. March 21.

Advance tickets are $28 or $24 for adults and $14 or $12 for children ages 3 to 12. Tickets are $2 more the day of the performance.

Lifehouse Theater is at 1135 N. Church St., Redlands, and free parking is available behind the theater.
