West End Auxiliary of Children’s Fund plans scholarship dinner

-

The West End Auxiliary of Children’s Fund will hold its Champions for Children — Seeds of Opportunity scholarship dinner March 2 at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel, 601 W. Mckinley Ave., Pomona.

The West End Auxiliary partners with Children’s Fund to provide recreational and post-secondary educational scholarships to children in need, and the scholarship dinner will raise funds to support those scholarships.

The West End Auxiliary gave $100,000 to Children’s Fund last year, and the auxiliary’s goal is to match that amount this year, according to a news release.

The event includes dinner, live and silent auctions, opportunity drawings and music by the Swing Shift band. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., with cocktails and viewing of silent auction and opportunity drawing items. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

Live auction items will include a seven-night stay in Cortona, Italy, for two people; a Mexico getaway; a Newport Harbor cruise for 10 people; and a party bus and wine-tasting adventure.

At the event, the West End Auxiliary will present its Community Service award to Henry D. Shannon, superintendent and president of Chaffey College, and will present its Patron Award to Scott and Norma Grannis. Norma Grannis is a past president of the West End Auxiliary, and she and her husband have continued to support the auxiliary by being sponsors every year, according to the news release.

Tickets are $135, available at westendauxiliary. org/champions-for-children.

Mary P. Wallace and Barbara Williams are copresidents of the West End Auxiliary. For information about the auxiliary, go to westendauxiliary.org.
