The Riverside Press-Enterprise
Palm Springs home, with Sculpta-grille and custom bar, selling for $1.7M
A reimagined 1967 midcentury modern home is for sale, asking $1.679 million.
That’s 20% more than the $1.395 million a Brooklyn couple paid for the restored and upgraded property in August 2021, records show. They’ve since made additional improvements.
Designed for 21st-century lifestyles, this 2,292-squarefoot house designed by architect Donald Wexler and built by the Alexander Construction Co. has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It sits on a quarter-acre lot in the Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort neighborhood with a pool and fairway and mountain views.
A turquoise-and-white entry gate with a series of upand-down rectangles across its bars offers a curbside pop
of color.
The interior of the house boasts a plastic decorative Sculpta-grille screen by the industrial designer Richard Harvey and a brassand-glass bar handcrafted by local metal artist Dennis Cathey.
Designer wallpaper and tile appear throughout.
A floating Malm fireplace anchors the living room, which sits on the other side of a low wall from the eatin gourmet kitchen. It features a GE Monogram appliance suite and an oversized cooking island with a breakfast bar.
Glass sliding doors connect the dining room to the backyard pool, custom-tiled barbecue island and fire pit area. The pool has been replastered, retiled and fitted with upgraded equipment.
Air conditioning cools the two-car garage, which features epoxy flooring, built-in closets, storage cabinets and 60-amp Tesla wiring.
Other perks include owned solar, upgraded electrical, a whole house water conditioner system and professional landscaping with designer lighting.
Niko Esposito at The Paul Kaplan Group with Bennion Deville Homes is the listing agent.
The Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort has been featured in sold-out Modernism Week tours. It’s near hiking trails, dining and shopping. According to the listing, homes in the neighborhood are eligible for short-term vacation rental.
