Temecula driver is a winner in nationwide program

Mathew Sanders, an Amazon delivery driver from Temecula, is one of five winners nationwide of Amazon’s second annual PEAK campaign, Alexa, Thank My Driver.

Sanders, 26, is a driver for Leading Edge Logistix LLC, which operates out of Amazon’s delivery station in Temecula. As one of the campaign winners, he received a $25,000 bonus, plus $25,000 to go toward a charity organizati­on of his choice, according to a news release.

In the campaign, which ran during the holiday season, drivers got an extra $5 for every thank-you they received from customers via Alexa-enabled devices.

Sanders received more than 600 thank-yous from his customers during the campaign, making him one of the top five thanked Amazon drivers in the country, according to the news release.

It was Sanders’ first holiday season delivering packages for Amazon.

He chose to donate his $25,000 charity award to World Wildlife Fund, which works to preserve wildlife and reduce human impact on the environmen­t.

“I deeply care about the wellbeing of animals and the preservati­on of biodiversi­ty,” Sanders said in the news release. “By supporting the WWF, I contribute to their essential work in defending habitats and combating climate change.”
