Arizona closes era in style with a rout

Caleb Love scored 22 points, Oumar Ballo had his ninth straight double-double and No. 6 Arizona closed out the Pac-12 era at Mckale Center with a 103-83 beatdown of visiting Oregon on Saturday.

The Wildcats (23-6, 14-4) honored their five seniors in a pregame ceremony and rode the good vibes to a dominating start against the Ducks (19-10, 11-7).

Keyed by Love and then Kylan Boswell, Arizona had a 17-point lead by the midpoint of the first half and didn’t let off the gas.

Ballo had 11 points and 12 rebounds for Arizona’s longest double-double streak at Arizona since Al Fleming had 10 straight during the 1974-75 season. Seniors Pelle Larsson and Keshad Johnson had 22 and 21 points, respective­ly.

Jermaine Couisnard scored 33 of his 39 points in the second half and Oregon shot 52% in its final Pac-12 road game.

NO. 12 CREIGHTON 89, NO. 5 MARQUETTE 75 >> Baylor Scheierman scored 26 points and made three straight 3-pointers late in the game to lead the host Bluejays (228, 13-6 Big East) to a victory over the Golden Eagles, who played without star guard Tyler Kolek and big man Oso Ighodaro.

Marquette (22-7, 13-5) lost for the first time in four games. Kam Jones led the Golden Eagles with 23 points.

Rayj Dennis had 19 points and 10 assists, Jayden Nunn scored 18 points with consecutiv­e fastbreak layups in a key run for the host Bears (21-8, 10-6 Big 12) in their win, handing the Jayhawks consecutiv­e losses for the first time this season.

Kevin Mccullar Jr. and Hunter Dickinson scored 20 points apiece for Kansas (218, 9-7).

LATE FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS LOYOLA CHICAGO 77, NO. 21 DAYTON 72 >> Des Watson scored 24 points and

Braden Norris made two crucial 3-pointers down the stretch, and finished with 19 points and 11 assists as the Ramblers pulled off the upset at home. Philip Alston scored 13 points and Miles Rubin blocked four shots for Loyola (21-8, 13-3 Atlantic 10), which has won eight of nine. Daron Holmes had 20 points and nine rebounds for Dayton (22-6, 12-4).

NO. 22 UTAH STATE 72, AIR FORCE 60 >> Ian Martinez scored 21 points to lead Aggies in a Mountain West Conference game late Friday night. Mason Falslev added 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists , as Utah State (24-5, 12-4) won its third straight game.

NEVADA 74, FRESNO STATE 66 >>

Jarod Lucas scored 21 points as the Wolf Pack won the MWC game at home. Nick Davidson scored 19 points as Nevada (24-6, 11-5) kept pace in the tight MWC race.

Women

Eleonora Villa scored 20 points, Astera Tuhina added 14 points and visiting Washington State closed with a 14-0 run to upset No. 13 Colorado 7263 in the Pac-12 season finale for both teams. Bella Murekatete and Tara Wallack each scored 12 points for the Cougars (18-13, 7-11).

Jaylyn Sherrod scored 18 points, shooting 11 for 12 from the free-throw line but just 3 of 16 from the field for Colorado (21-8, 117).

WASHINGTON 62, NO. 18 UTAH 47 >> Lauren Schwartz scored 18 points, Sayvia Sellers added 13 and the visiting Huskies surprised the Utes on the final day of the regular season for the Pac-12 Conference. Dalayah Daniels had 12 points and nine rebounds and Hannah Stines scored 11 points for Washington (16-13, 6-12).

Matyson Wilke led Utah (21-9, 11-7) with 17 points. Utah’s Dasia Young, with four points, was the only reserve to score for either team.
