Burlington Coat Factory joining Shops at Jurupa Valley
To help us shake off the time change, here’s some new stuff coming our way from several retailers in the Inland Empire.
First up: The discount retailer Burlington Coat Factory is opening this spring at the Shops at Jurupa Valley, a new retail center at the northeast corner of Pyrite Street and Mission Boulevard.
The shopping center sits on 32 acres, and includes 17 buildings spanning 320,000 square feet. Burlington joins retailers Target, Ross, the bargain grocer Aldi, Five Below, Inn-out, Starbucks, Raising Canes, Chipotle, Circle K, Quick Quack Car Wash and West Coast Dental.
Burlington sells clothing, shoes, pet products and housewares at bargain prices. Company reps said the new store brings its California store count to 112.

Sprouts opening in high desert
For High Desert dwellers, there’s a new organic market in town.
Sprouts Farmers Market is opening March 15 in Victorville.
The grocery store at 12450 Amargosa Road will host a ribbon cutting at 6:45 a.m., with the doors opening to customers at 7 a.m.
“We are grateful to Sprouts for planting its roots in Victorville and for offering natural, healthy food options that promote a strong community,” said Liz Becerra, mayor of Victorville.
The grand opening will include a number of promotions and freebies. Over the weekend shoppers can taste seasonal produce from the tasting bar, and even take part in a “guess the weight” contest of an oversized piece of produce.
Early bird shoppers Friday and Saturday morning will get a free tote. There will be plenty of new food items to sample inside, too.
Sprouts also has a Food Rescue program, which donates groceries to Feeding America Riverside /San Bernardino.

Corona Walmart gets a makeover
The folks at the Walmart Supercenter in Corona
are showing off the store’s makeover.
Store manager Regina Moreno tells us several departments got a new look, including the pharmacy, online grocery pickup and delivery departments and the mother’s room (a lactation space and room for baby needs). The retailer’s vision department also was renovated, along with much of the signage throughout.
The front of the store has 20 new self-checkout registers.
“We are thrilled to welcome customers to our new and improved Supercenter,” Moreno said in a statement. “The overall renovation of our store allows for more product availability and the store upgrades will make shopping faster, more convenient, and enjoyable for our customers.”

Temecula debuts new rec center with pool
The city of Temecula this month is celebrating its reimagined Margarita Recreation Center.
The facility at 29119 Margarita Road will be officially unveiled at an open house from 9:30 a.m. to noon March 23.
The reconstruction, which cost the city at least $8.6 million, was designed for people of all ages and abilities, the city said. It will host a broad array of activities, programs and services.
Temecula Mayor James “Stew” Stewart said the city was “committed to providing our community with
high quality public amenities which ultimately raise the quality of life here in Temecula.”
The facility at 29119 Margarita Road includes has a zero-depth, warm water, wheelchair-accessible
six-lane swimming pool; a dance/fitness studio; multipurpose room and a classroom.
A mosaic mural created by artist Troi Follansbee with the help of local Temecula Elementary School students, parents and faculty adorns one wall inside the building.

Appointments
Gov. Gavin Newsom recently made several Inland Empire appointments to the 28th District Agricultural Association, San Bernardino County Fair Board of Directors.
Victorville resident Lizet Angulo has been president of Management Business Services and president of Ladies TKO since 2016.
Rick Bui of Spring Valley Lake has been a business development manager at Shell Roofing Solutions since 2022.
Michael Keith Wubker Jr. of Fontana has been a teacher for the Fontana Unified School District since 2015.
These positions do not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation.
