Regina King discusses son's death on `GMA'
Regina King’s favorite role has been that of being a mom. King spoke with “Good Morning America” in an interview that aired this week, her first since the death of her 26-year-old son, Ian Alexander Jr., who died by suicide in January 2022.
The actress has dedicated her forthcoming film, “Shirley,” about activist and politician Shirley Chisholm, to her late son. “I’m a different person, you know, now than I was January 19,” the day in 2022 he died. King went on to tell “GMA’S” Robin Roberts, “Grief is a journey. I understand that grief is love that has no place to go.” She said she wishes to honor Ian in the “totality” of who he has been, speaking about her son in the present tense because “he is always with me.”
King said despite the joy and happiness Ian gave her and others, her son struggled to find it for himself.
“When it comes to depression, people expect it to look a certain way, and they expect it to look heavy,” King said.
Jelly Roll on his tattoos: `What was I thinking?'
Country star Jelly Roll says he regrets most of his tattoos, including some of his famous face ink.
“I regret 98% of these tattoos, 97%. Almost all of them,” he admits in a new interview with
GQ. “Like core philosophies I rooted my life in when I was 17 and now that I’m 40, I’m like, what the ---- was I thinking?” The singer said he’s especially embarrassed by an image of a baby smoking a blunt, but says the cross on his face is his most meaningful tat: “It was symbolic of a change for me, symbolic of a new beginning. Understanding that I need to bear my own cross.”
Michael B. Jordan is `sexiest' but still lonely
Michael B. Jordan is one of People magazine’s sexiest men, but even he finds it difficult being single.
The “Creed” star and producer was last linked with influencer and entrepreneur Lori Harvey, but the pair split in 2022. Jordan was a guest on a recent episode of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast, where he was asked about the best and worst parts of being, well, a very in-demand Michael B. Jordan. “I love multitasking; I love juggling, the balancing act that I do,” Jordan said. “The worst part is the loneliness that comes with that.
“So I think the worst part of that is the feeling like nobody really understands and sometimes falling into the spaces of just being alone, feeling alone.” Shetty asked how the person selected as the Sexiest Man Alive in 2020 finds love, and Jordan quipped, “I revert back to the last question. It’s very lonely!”
