Senior centers offer sit-down lunches, packaged meals

Many senior centers in southweste­rn San Bernardino County and eastern Los Angeles County offer sit-down lunches on weekdays, though a few that suspended the inperson meals at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic still are distributi­ng packaged meals to take home.

The following are the lunch offerings at some of the centers in the area.

Family Service Associatio­n, which provided hot meals at various centers before the pandemic, distribute­s weekly meal packages of five frozen meals, plus milk, bread and fruit, on Wednesdays at centers, including the James L. Brulte Senior Center, 11200 Base Line Road, Rancho Cucamonga. Distributi­on is 10-11 a.m. For informatio­n, call the center at 909-4772780.

These meals are for those who participat­e in the senior lunch program and are 60 or older and supply is limited. Others who need meals may contact Family Service Associatio­n at 951-342-3057.

The George M. Gibson Senior Center at 250 N. Third Ave., Upland, offers sit-down lunches 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Suggested donation is $3. For informatio­n, call 909-9814501.

The Ontario Senior Center, at 225 E. B St., offers sit-down meals 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For informatio­n, call 909-3952021.

Rialto’s Grace Vargas Senior Center, at 1411 S. Riverside Ave., offers sit-down meals 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Suggested donation is $3 for those 60 and older and $9.75 for guests younger than 60. There is noontime entertainm­ent Wednesday through Friday. For informatio­n, call 909-877-9706.

Intervale Senior Services offers sit-down lunches beginning at 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays at the San Dimas Senior Citizen and Community Center, 201 E. Bonita Ave., for participan­ts in the senior lunch program. Participan­ts may also pick up packaged meals 10:30 a.m.-noon Wednesdays at the center. To register for the program, call 626-960-2995.

In Claremont, sit-down lunches are offered at the Joslyn Senior Center, 660 N. Mountain Ave., and at Blaisdell Park, 440 S. College Ave. Lunch is served 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Joslyn center and at noon at Blaisdell. Reservatio­ns are required to dine at the centers, which have indoor and outdoor seating. In Pomona, sit-down lunches are offered at Washington Park Community Center, 865 E. Grand Ave., and Palomares Park Community Center, 499 E. Arrow Highway. Lunches are served between 10a.m. and 1p.m. Monday through Friday at both centers. Suggested donation is $2.50 for those 60 and older, $3 for those younger than 60. The city of Montclair Senior Nutrition Program serve lunch 11:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. weekdays at 5111 Benito St., Montclair. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for sign in, coffee, tea and socializin­g. Suggested donation is $3 for age 60 and older. There is a $6 fee for guests younger than 60. Menus are available for pickup. For informatio­n, call 909-625-9483.
