Today Concert:

The Pomona College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Barb Catlin, presents a concert 8 p.m. in Bridges Hall of Music, 150E. Fourth St., Claremont. The concert features one of Duke Ellington’s lesser-known works, the “Far East Suite,” with a modern interpreta­tion. Tree planting: Volunteers are invited to join the city of Chino Hills for the annual tree planting event in honor of Arbor Day at Madrugada Trail, from 8 a.m. to noon or until all trees have been planted. Parking and checkin are on Calle San Marcos near Grand Avenue. People may drop in throughout the event; registrati­on is not required. The city has some equipment available for volunteers, but those who own shovels are asked to bring them.

Craft market: The Crafters Market, held in conjunctio­n with the Pomona Valley Certified Farmers’ Market, runs 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays at 175 W. Pearl St., Pomona.

Food distributi­on: Food for Life Ministry partners with Gateway Karis Church for a food distributi­on 9-11:30a.m. at the church, 5885 Schaefer Ave., Chino. Food for Life also offers food 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at its main warehouse, 4712 Cheyenne Way, Chino. Farmers markets: The city of Fontana, in conjunctio­n with the Family Market Company, offers a farmers market 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays in the aquatics center parking lot at Fontana Park, 15556 Summit Ave.; and 2-7 p.m. Thursdays in the Don Day Neighborho­od Center parking lot at Southridge Park, 14501 Live Oak Ave.

Lifestream blood drive: The city of Chino Hills hosts a Lifestream blood drive noon-5 p.m. at the Government Center parking lot, 14077Peyto­n Drive. Donors receive a free mini-physical, including readings for blood pressure, pulse, cholestero­l levels, iron level and temperatur­e, with results being posted on the donor’s private online portal. Writers’ group: The San Dimas Writers Group meets 1 p.m. Wednesdays at San Dimas Senior Center, 201 E. Bonita Ave., San Dimas. The group is open to published writers and anyone else interested in joining a community of writers. There is no cost to join.
