Local Kohl’s stores to add Babies R Us shops
Two Sacramento-area Kohl’s stores are adding special Babies “R” Us shops with gear, furniture and more tailored for little ones.
The department store chain announced Wednesday that it’s adding Babies R’ Us shops inside 200 of its stores nationwide.
They include Kohl’s Elk Grove Commons store at 9650 Bruceville Road in Elk Grove and Highland Reserve Marketplace store at 10375 Fairway Drive in Roseville.
Kohl’s announced its partnership with WHP Global, which owns the Babies “R” US brand, in March, with a goal of “broadening the retailer’s reach with younger customers.”
Each Babies “R” Us at Kohl’s shop will feature “a curated assortment of the latest baby gear, furniture, activity, accessories and more,” Kohl’s said.
Adjacent to the shop, customers can find baby and kids’ apparel and other offerings from brands including Little Co. by Lauren Conrad, Jumping Beans, Carter’s and Nike, Kohl’s said.
Through Kohl’s partnership with WHP Global, customers will also be able to shop “an expanded assortment of baby products on Kohls.com” and use the Babies “R” Us at Kohl’s registry to build and share gift lists, Kohl’s said.

Kohl’s first opened its doors in Brooksfield, Wisconsin, in 1962, eventually becoming a national chain. In 2003, the retailer opened its first 23 stores in California.
Customers can shop for products including clothing, footwear, home products and jewelry.
WHAT HAPPENED TO BABIES ‘R’ US?
Kohl’s is joining forces with the Babies “R” Us brand after its former parent company, Toys “R” Us, filed bankruptcy in 2018. WHP Global acquired Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us in 2021.
The Toys “R” Us brand relaunched in 2022 with shops inside Macy’s department stores, The Sacramento Bee previously reported.
The new Babies “R” Us shops inside Kohl’s will range in size from 750 square feet to 2,500 square feet, the release said, and be dedicated exclusively to “baby gear, activity, bath, furniture, feeding and safety products.”
WHEN WILL BABIES ‘R’ US SHOPS OPEN?
The first Babies “R” Us shops will open in Kohl’s in in August with plans to roll out to additional stores this fall, according to the release.
HOW MANY LOCATIONS ARE OPENING IN CALIFORNIA?
A total of 30 Kohl’s locations throughout California will be adding Babies “R” Us sections.
