Mildred Louise Crossley

-

Mildred Louise Crossley, 109, of Little Rock, formerly of Bryant, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022.

She entered this world on Nov. 29, 1913, in Flynn, Texas — the eighth of 10 children born to Isaac Newton Lovett and Constance Mary Lovett. Isaac was a farmer, and Mildred often told stories of her early years, when the family moved around Texas and traveled by covered wagon. By the 1930s, the Lovetts had purchased a farm in Montgomery County. Everything the family ate was either grown or raised right there at home. It was a way of life that Mildred loved, and she tended her own garden full of fruit trees and vegetables until she was well into her 80s. Her favorite flowers were roses. She was an avid reader of romance novels, a whiz at crossword puzzles and she always enjoyed a good game of dominos or bingo. That competitive streak didn’t stop at the bingo hall. She once said her goal was to outlive her sister, Mary Lemon, who passed away at the age of 100. (Which she did. By 9 years!)

Mildred was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Lynn Brown; their son, David Brown; and her second husband, Charles Crossley.

She leaves behind two sons, Edward Brown, of California, and James Brown Sr., of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Jimmy (Mei-mei) Brown and Melody Brown, of Little Rock, Louis Brown and Matthew Brown, of Bryant; two great-grandchildren, Holden Brown and Jasen Brown, of Little Rock; nieces, Mildred Irene Kuehnert, of Conway, and Susie Conrad Johnston, of North Little Rock; and nephew, Larry Lovett, of California.

Mildred enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at The Green House Cottages of Poplar Grove for the wonderful care given to her during the last two years.

Graveside services will be held at the Little Rock National Cemetery Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at 12:30 p.m.

Please donate to your local church in remembrance of Mildred L. Crossley in lieu of flowers.
