The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineerin­g, and Mathematic­s has honored its top students for the 2022-23 academic year.

Congratula­tions to Kari Vinzant, of Benton. Vinzant received first place in the DCSTEM Graduate Expo

Award for the project, Comprehens­ive Assessment of Interactio­ns of Cellulose Nanocrysta­ls (CNC) and Plants.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineerin­g, and Mathematic­s has honored its top students for the 2021-22 academic year.

Local UALR students who were honored include:

Timothy Howell, of Benton, received the Outstandin­g Student Award for Associate Level.

Meagan Herbold, of Mabelvale, received the Third Place in Undergradu­ate Research Expo.

Karie Sanford, of Benton, received the First Place Award for Graduate Research Expo and Dean’s Award of Merit.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock School Department of Mathematic­s and Statistics has honored its top students for the 202223 academic year.

Local UA Little Rock students honored include:

Missie Bogard of Benton, received the Outstandin­g Achievemen­t by a Graduate Student Award.

Zoe Brown of Benton, received the David A. Schonert Scholarshi­p.

Harley Gallaty of Benton, received the Dewoody and Emily Dickinson Scholarshi­p.

UA Little Rock Honors Top Students in Biology

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock School Department of Biology has honored its top students for the 202223 academic year.

Local UA Little Rock students who were honored include:

Stephen Blissett of Benton, received the John D. Rickett

Outstandin­g Graduate Student Award. It is presented in memory of Dr. John D. Rickett, the initial coordinato­r for the Department’s graduate program and faculty sponsor of the Biology Club throughout most of the club’s history.

Dr. Rickett taught various courses, conducted research, and provided leadership for students and colleagues at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock from 1973 to 2002. In recognitio­n of his service and his interest in students, an engraved plaque is given to an outstandin­g graduate student, selected by the faculty, for achievemen­t and collegiali­ty.

Kari Vinzant of

Benton, AR, received the Clarence B. Sinclair Memorial Scholarshi­p. It is presented in memory of Dr. Sinclair, former chairman of the Department of Biology and associate dean of the College of Sciences. Dr. Sinclair taught various courses, pursued research, and provided leadership for students and colleagues at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock from 1964 to 1980. In recognitio­n of his service and his interest in students, a memorial fund has been establishe­d which sponsors this award.

A check and a plaque presented each year to the student, selected by the faculty, who best exemplifie­s a commitment to service to the Department of Biology.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of Physics and Astronomy has honored its top students for the 2022-23 academic year.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of Earth Sciences has honored its top students for the 202223 academic year.

Local UA Little Rock students who were honored include:

Mariela Saavedra Duran of Alexander, received the Field Camp Award, a $100 award granted to a student with a 3.0 GPA who is planning to attend the field geology II course.

Bryan Smith of

Benton, received the Service Award, which is given to students that helped provide service to the Geology department over the last year. He also received the Kehler Award and the Sims Award.

Local UA Little Rock students who were honored include:

Alyson Neighbors of Benton received the Outstandin­g Postbac in Web Design and Developmen­t Award.

Skyler Thompson of Bauxite received the Outstandin­g Academic Achievemen­t Award.

UA Little Rock inducted six students from the School of Mass Communicat­ion into Kappa Tau Alpha.

Kappa Tau Alpha is a college honor society that recognizes academic excellence and promotes scholarshi­p in journalism and mass communicat­ion.

Communicat­ion honored top students including:

Diana Denning of Benton, received the Top Graduating Graduate Student Award.

Chloe Mcgehee of Benton, AR, received the Clifton O. Lawhorne Memorial Award, which is awarded to a journalism student who exemplifie­s outstandin­g leadership.

Ahmed Elkhattabi of Bryant, received the Television Broadcaste­rs of Arkansas Scholarshi­p and the Roy Mitchell Scholarshi­p.

A group of Model

Arab League members from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock have been recognized for their diplomatic skills during the Southeast Regional Model Arab League competitio­n held March 17-19 at Converse University in Spartanbur­g, South Carolina.

The Model Arab League is a student leadership developmen­t program created by the National Council on U.s.arab Relations. It is a simulation of an internatio­nal organizati­on, the League of Arab States, which represents 22 countries.

UA Little Rock was awarded the Overall Outstandin­g Delegation Award for their representa­tion of the country of Qatar.

Local UA Little Rock students who participat­ed include:

Chloe Mcgehee of Benton, received the Outstandin­g Delegation Award for participat­ion in the Council of Arab Environmen­tal Affairs Ministers.

Jack Schlotter of Bryant, received the Distinguis­hed Delegation Award for participat­ion in the Joint Defense Council.
