GANSEVOORT — Rachel A. Rametta Zimolka, 36, cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed into eternal peace Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her loving family, including her beloved husband, Paul Zimolka, and daughter, Lucy, were by her side.

Born March 17, 1976, in Annapolis, Md., she was the daughter of Mary (Perrino) Rametta and Concetto and Lisa Rametta.

Rachel attended Goshen High School, Plattsburg­h State College and the University at Albany. She worked as community developmen­t manager for Sunmark Federal Credit Union. She was an active member in the business community, a volunteer with GeNEXT and was named by the Business Review as a “40 Under Forty” award winner.

Rachel’s greatest joy came from her family, especially her daughter, Lucy.

Throughout the course of her illness, Rachel remained profoundly optimistic and full of faith. She cherished every moment of life and always had a smile on her face. Rachel was an inspiratio­n to all those who knew her, spreading love wherever she went and always sharing her dear Nana’s favorite saying, “Love you, I do!”

In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, Rachel is survived by brothers, Thomas (Tracy) Rametta of Freehold, N.J., Benjamin (Anne) Rametta of Gansevoort, Robert ( Michele) Rametta of Warwick and Michael Rametta, Matthew Rametta and Joey Rametta, all of Goshen; grandmothe­rs, Lucy Rametta of Goshen and Carol Orza of Middletown; parents-in-law, Gerald and Anna Zimolka of Scotia; sister, Melissa Zimolka of Halfmoon; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs.

Burial will follow at 12: 30 p. m. Friday at the Gerald B. H. SolomonSar­atoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylervi­lle.

In lieu of flowers, Rachel requested that donations be made in her memory to the Lucy Zimolka Fund, Sunmark FCU, P. O. Box 16370, Albany, NY 12212-6370, or drop off at any Sunmark FCU location. Rachel also requested that friends and family write “Letters to Lucy,” written memories about her and how you knew one another. Please mail letters to 16 Dakota Drive, Gansevoort, NY 12831.
