William J. Madison

POUGHKEEPSIE — William J. Madison, 66, of Poughkeepsie passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

He was born in Gloversville Oct. 16, 1946, the son of Andrew F. and Clarabelle Burton Madison. He was a graduate of Schuylerville High School and Adirondack Community College.

He married Fern L. Palmer June 23, 1973, in Schuylerville. She survives at home.

Bill worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie for 30 years, retiring in 1994 as a systems analyst. He was a member of the Schuylerville Methodist Church.

Bill was past president and most recently treasurer for the Kevin Barry Irish Club, Matteson Historical Congress, and a longtime member of the Health Club at the J.C.C.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed golf and traveling to Ireland with his sons. Not to be forgotten is “Jackson,” his black lab who walked him around the block everyday.

Survivors include his sons, Corey J. and his wife, Donna Madison of Staatsburg, N. Y.; Andrew E. Madison and his significant other, Coryn DeSantis of Poughkeepsie; stepdaughter, Dawn Taber and her significant other, Tom Skwish of Poughkeepsie; brother and sister- in- law, Thomas and Sherrie Madison of Burnt Hills; grandchildren, Ryleigh Brooke Madison and Cassidy Loren Janso; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 4 t0 8 p. m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Wm. G. Miller and Son Funeral Home Inc., 317 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Services are at 10 a. m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
