AMERICA’S NAVY BAND: America’s Navy is coming to Lake Placid. Navy Band Northeast will perform at Mid’s Park on Main Street on Sunday, September 4 at 6 p.m. Navy Band Northeast proudly performs free public concerts highlighti­ng musical selections meant to inspire patriotism and entertain audiences of all ages. The concert will also feature Navy Band Northeast’s Rock Band, Rhode Island Sound, performing everything from classic rock to today’s Top 40 hits. FINAL STRETCH MUSIC FESTIVAL: The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, along with presenting sponsor, NYRA, and major sponsor, Druthers, will host the 2016 Final Stretch Music Festival on Saturday, September 3 & Sunday, September 4. Both days will take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. throughout Downtown Saratoga Springs. On hand will be six bands ranging from rock and blues to instrument­al, solos, and chorus. GRANT COTTAGE: When you settle in for today’s Porch Chat, it will be September 2016. When the program begins at 1 p.m., it will become September 1866. It is 18 months since the assassinat­ion of President Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant, still in command of the nation’s armies, has finally gotten over the shock of the Great Emancipato­r’s murder. He’s now able to put Abraham Lincoln, and his place in American history, into perspectiv­e, and his own feelings into words. Join us for an intimate moment as General Grant reflects on the life of his President, his Commander-in-Chief and his friend. General Grant will be portrayed by Grant Cottage tour guide Steve Trimm.Ulysses S. Grant State Historic Site, 1000 Mt. McGregor Road, Wilton. SHRINE MASS: Italian Mass, 3 p.m. in the Coliseum. YADDO GARDEN TOURS: Tours of the Garden only include sharing the history of the Trask Family, the Mansion and history of the Yaddo gardens. The aura, spirituali­ty and creative energy that permeates Yaddo is discussed. Docent-led tours begin at 11 a.m. at the main fountain near the entrance gate to the garden, and last about one hour. The cost is $10 per person. Special guided docent-led tours of the Yaddo gardens can be arranged at a date and time convenient for the group.
