FINAL STRETCH MUSIC FESTIVAL: The Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, along with presenting sponsor, NYRA, and major sponsor, Druthers, will host the 2016 Final Stretch Music Festival on Saturday, September 3 & Sunday, September 4. Both days will take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. throughout Downtown Saratoga Springs. On hand will be six bands ranging from rock and blues to instrumental, solos, and chorus. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF DANCE: Come to an Open House at the National Museum of Dance’s School of the Arts on Saturday, September 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. Check out the Dance Museum’s School of the Arts Studios, and get more information about the upcoming semester. The School of the Arts offers classes for all ages and abilities in ballet, creative movement, belly dancing, hip-hop, modern, Irish Step and more. Beginning this fall, the School of the Arts will now be offering tap classes. Fall dance classes begin Monday, September 12. The National Museum of Dance is located at 99 South Broadway in Saratoga Springs. RUN/WALK FOR THE HORSES: The 7th Annual Run/Walk for the Horses & Kids Fun Run will benefit six locally based organizations that rescue, rehabilitate, retrain and retire ex-racehorses. The certified 5k course, which begins at the Orenda Pavilion in Saratoga State Park, will wind its way throughout the beautiful park. Registration opens at 7 a.m. Post time will be at 8:30 a.m. The 5K course is certified and all proceeds benefit six local non-profits that rescue and provide second careers or homes for ex-racehorses. There will be refreshments, and prizes in all race/walk divisions. There’s even a canine division. Pre-race registration for the event is $25. Race day registration is $30. www.trfinc.org/event/5k. YADDO GARDEN TOURS: Tours of the Garden only include sharing the history of the Trask Family, the Mansion and history of the Yaddo gardens. The aura, spirituality and creative energy that permeates Yaddo is discussed. Docent-led tours begin at 11 a.m. at the main fountain near the entrance gate to the garden, and last about one hour. The cost is $10 per person. Special guided docent-led tours of the Yaddo gardens can be arranged at a date and time convenient for the group.
