EARLY HOLIDAY CHEER
Saratoga Hospital presents 50th Anniversary ornament to SPAC
SARATOGA SPRINGS >> It’s officially fall, but Saratoga Hospital is looking toward the holiday season.
The Saratoga Hospital presented the Saratoga Performing Arts Center with a limited edition holiday ornament to celebrate SPAC’S 50th anniversary on Monday.
SPAC president and executive director Marcia White was joined by Saratoga Hospital CEO Angelo Calbone, philanthropists Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson, and Joseph Bell, MD Monday afternoon to receive the ornament. The 24k gold on brass ornament is modeled after SPAC’S amphitheater and was designed by Bell, a member of the Saratoga Hospital Medical Group and well-known surgeon.
This is Bell’s 50th ornament that he has designed, according to White, and as such, decided to dedicate it to SPAC’S 50th anniversary.
“We could not be more proud to receive this beautiful ornament in commemoration of SPAC’S 50th anniversary season,”
White said in a statement. “SPAC has thrived for five decades through the partnership and support of community organizations such as Saratoga Hospital. We are very grateful to Dr. Bell for creating this once-in-alifetime memento of SPAC’s milestone anniversary.”
In return, SPAC is giving Saratoga Hospital the SPAC 50th Anniversary book, which will be available during the holiday season.
“More importantly it’s the picture of a partnership and collaboration that Saratoga is so fortunate to have a quality of life with the best healthcare system that they can find throughout the world here,” White said on Monday.
Calbone said he thinks highly of SPAC’s cultural significance on Saratoga Springs.
“Surrounded by towering pines, sweeping lawns, geysers and natural mineral springs SPAC has played an exceptional role as the summer home of the New York City Ballet and The Philadelphia Orchestra since first opening its gates in 1966,” Calbone said in a statement. “SPAC has reached beyond artistic, cultural, and educational boundaries to promote, cultivate and share the performing arts with generations. As SPAC celebrates its 50th season, we offer thanks to the artistic vision, the community leadership and all SPAC patrons for their commitment to creating a legacy for the arts in Saratoga Springs.”
