Police seek clues after freight train hits, kills pedestrian

DUNKIRK >> Police say a pedestrian was hit by a freight train and killed in western New York.

Police say it appears two people had been walking along tracks in the Chautauqua County city of Dunkirk early Wednesday when one of them was hit by a CSX train.

Police are asking anyone with informatio­n to come forward, including the second person.

The victim’s name isn’t being released until family members can be notified.

A road near the tracks was closed for several hours while police investigat­ed. It has since re-opened.
