Former Long Island town official gets prison for tax evasion
CENTRAL ISLIP >> A former town official on Long Island has been sentenced to over two years in prison for tax evasion.
U.S. Attorney Robert L. Capers says former Oyster Bay planning commissioner Frederick Ippolito got the 27-month sentence Wednesday.
He also will pay about $548,000 in restitution.
The 77-year-old Syosset resident pleaded guilty to tax evasion in January.
Federal authorities said he “willfully” failed to report over $2 million in consulting fees between 2009 and 2013.
