Saratoga Springs earns tie in wild finish

SARATOGA SPRINGS » Saratoga Springs rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 2-2 tie against Guilderlan­d on Tuesday.

After falling behind in the first minute, the Blue Streaks closed the half with a pair of goals, both scored by sophomore Evan Farr. However, Guilderlan­d fought back, and knotted the game in the second half. Saratoga finished the match a man down because of a red card. SHENENDEHO­WA 2, COLUMBIA 0 » Nick Evans finished with a goal and an assist in Shenendeho­wa’s 2-0 shutout of Columbia on Tuesday. Trevor Chung put the first goal in off a pass from Evans.

In the net, Greg Monroe had four saves for the Plainsmen, while Jarrod Colletta had 14 for the Blue Devils.

1» Despite allowing the opening goal, Ballston Spa scored three unanswered for a 3-1 victory over Schenectad­y on Tuesday. Thomas Gentile scored a pair, while Colin Maruscak found the net with one of his own shots.

STILLWATER 4, MECHANICVI­LLE 3 » Stillwater scored four first-half goals and managed to hold on for a 4-3 victory in the Indian Cup match against Mechanicvi­lle on Tuesday.

Jake Zdonick scored a pair of goals, while Brody Cepiel and Grant Baker helped extend Stillwater’s lead before the half.

For Mechanicvi­lle, Jeff Luce, Marcus Tobin and Connor Keegan helped the Red Raiders claw their way back in, but couldn’t find the equalizer. CAMBRIDGE 2, GREENWICH 0 » Greenwich applied early pressure, but couldn’t manage a goal to show for it and Cambridge scored once in each half for a 2-0 win on Tuesday.

Emerson Lopez netted the game’s first goal, off an assist from Eli Robertson, to put the Indians up 1-0 with 7:00 left in the half. Cambridge stormed out of halftime as Daniel Medina collected a rebound just 23 second into the frame for a 2-0 final. WATERFORD 2, HOOSIC VALLEY 0 » Hunter Guertin found the net twice to give Waterford a 2-0 win over Hoosic Valley on Tuesday. The Fordians managed 20 shots in the game, forcing Hoosic Valley keeper Isaac Carlo to make 14 saves.

Girls Volleyball Suburban Council

SHENENDEHO­WA 3, COLONIE 0» Rachel Millington had nine kills, while Hannah Feit and Meghan Greene combined for seven aces in Shenendeho­wa’s 25-11, 2510, 25-19 win over Colonie on Tuesday. The Plainsmen improve to 9-0 in Suburban action this season. BURNT HILLS 3, TROY 0 » Ashlynn Apffel had seven aces, four kills and four digs to lead Burnt Hills to a 25-18, 25-14, 25-11 win over Troy on Tuesday. Lexi Pawlusik added five kills and 10 digs for the Spartans (8-0, 11-2).

Sisi Sorriento had seven kills for Troy, while Renee Martin finished with five blocks.

WAC

GALWAY 3, OESJ 0 » Galway improved to 6-1 in the WAC with a victory over Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville on Tuesday. Britany Kenyon led the Golden Eagles with 13 kills and six blocks, while Lindsey Zawisa and Carlee Horstmann each added eight kills. Abbie Pritchard had six aces and 15 digs in the win.

Boys Golf Suburban Council

GUILDERLAN­D 243, BALLSTON SPA 255 » Guilderlan­d defeated Ballston Spa 243-255 on Tuesday. Aidan Seery led Guilderlan­d with a 36, while Ryan Salerno paced the Scotties with a 41. BURNT HILLS 264, COLONIE 278 » Julianna Maddalone and Max Stofle led Burnt Hills to a 264-278 win over Colonie on Tuesday as both carded a 41 for the Spartans. Christian Ristau led the Garnet Raiders with a 43.

Boys Cross Country Foothills Council

QUEENSBURY 17, SCHUYLERVI­LLE 40 » Queensbury had the top four finishers in a Foothills cross country win over Schuylervi­lle on Tuesday.

Ethan Carey finished in 15:54.37 to lead all runners. Schuylervi­lle’s Spencer Swoboda was fifth in 17:22.98.

Girls Cross Country Suburban Council

SARATOGA 15, BETHLEHEM 50; SARATOGA 15, MOHONASEN 50 » Kelsey Chmiel finished in 18:11 to help Saratoga Springs defeat Mohonasen and Bethlehem on Tuesday.

Peyton Engborg, Caroline Sarace and Maddie Tooker finished second, third and fourth in 19:56, separated by less than a second.

Sarah Vener finished eighth for Bethlehem in 20:29, while Anna Sherman was 10th for Mohonasen in 20:50.

Foothills Council

QUEENSBURY 21, SCHUYLERVI­LLE 40 » Schuylervi­lle’s Ashley Watson won the individual race in 19:45.28, but the next three finishers were Spartans and Queensbury won the match 21-40.

Lauren Guilfoil led Queensbury with a secondplac­e finish in 20:32.02.
