Schenectady casino job fair set for Oct. 8
SCHENECTADY >> A Saturday, Oct. 8 job fair is scheduled for the $330 million new Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady that is scheduled to open early next year.
It is the first full-scale casino in the Capital Region, with live dealers for a variety of games.
The job fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the SEAT Center at 131 State St. in downtown Schenectady.
The casino is scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2017, with an adjacent hotel following in mid-summer. Together, they will employ about 1,200 people.
A variety of positions are available. Prospective employees will have a chance to meet casino management personnel for screening and interviews. Attendees are encouraged to bring resumes.

Those who have already applied online are strongly encouraged to attend the job fair to meet with hiring managers in person.
Prior experience in the casino industry is not necessary for most positions. Training will be provided for new employees, such as the Rivers Casino & Resort Dealer School that is already under way.
The casino will be hiring in stages for all positions leading up to the site’s opening.
Job fair parking will be available at nearby Schenectady County Community College. Signs and staff will help guide attendees to the SEAT Center.
The casino’s operator, Chicagobased Rush Street Gaming, already has three other casinos in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Des Plaines, Ill., near Chicago.
The Schenectady casino, located on Mohawk River, will have 50,000-square-foot gaming floor with 1,150 slot machines, 63 gaming tables and 16 poker tables. The casino will be attached to a 163-room hotel and a 10,000-square-foot banquet facility capable of hosting up to more than 900 people for conventions and special events. It is one of the largest event spaces in the region.
Also, the property will have a steakhouse, marketplace with light fare eateries, entertainment lounge and day spa.
The casino resort will be located next to a new mixed-use development, called Mohawk Harbor, currently under construction by the Galesi Group. This represents an additional $150 million investment in the 60-acre riverfront property.
Mohawk Harbor will have residential, retail and commercial space including a 124-room Courtyard by Marriott and a 50slip harbor on the Mohawk River and Erie Canal.
