Administration tearing down government

-

Crazy terrible things happen in countries where only maybe at most 10 percent of the population really know and believe in what is happening.

Steven Bannon made public what many of us suspected all along. This administration, under his guidance, is here to tear down the functioning of this government from within. At most, a quarter of eligible voters voted for Trump. Most of them didn’t really know what they were voting for; and probably less than 10 percent of his voters fully understand and fully approve of this goal.

So in essence, this is a coup of ignorance, with a small number of people tearing down institutions and ideals that bind the majority of Americans, and this country together. This will not end well.

In many despotic and dysfunctional countries in this world, in history, a small but revolutionary group of people have imposed their will on the masses, with terrible outcomes. Nazi Germany. Cambodia, Syria, to name the more extreme. But as someone recently said, there are many stops on the way to Hitler Station. Where will America get off the train?

How many Americans will be knowing or unwitting accomplices? Those that understand and support Bannon are accomplices. Other voters who still thrive in ignorance are accomplices. Politicians who put personal gain or party ahead of the common good are accomplices.

Who will be the heros? Will enough of the speak up and take action soon enough and long enough?

As Mr. Bannon said at CPAC, this will be a fight everyday. Our intelligence community is one institution they want to tear down and rebuild in their image. The news media is the enemy. Protesters are evil paid soul-less whiners.

Yes, the great American Experiment has been far from perfect. But are we going to let it be torn down through supporting Steven Bannon and Donald Trump directly or through passive ignorance? This will be traumatic and there will be many casualties through violence, increased poverty and demonizing. Where do you stand? — David Aimone Saratoga Springs
