Trump’s personality outright frightening
Psychiatrists Lance Dodes and Joseph Schachter, in a Feb. 14 letter to the New York Times (co-signed by 35 other psychiatrists and PhD psychologists) argued on the basis of Donald Trump’s speech and actions. He is incapapble of serving safely as president.
Any educated and unbiased layperson would have to come to the same conclusion. Mosby’s Medical Dictionary vividly defines narcissistic personality disorder as follows:
“A psychiatrict diagnosis characterized by an exaggerated sense of self-importance and uniqueness, an abnormal need for attention and admiration, preoccupation with grandiose fantasies concerning the self, and disturbances in interpersonal relationships, usually involving exploitation of others and a lack of empathy.”
This characterization seems to fit Mr. Trump’s personality. An ordinary person afflicted with such a personality disorder, though appearing odd, may be relatively harmless. However, if it afflicts the president of the United states, who wields immense power, it is entirely another matter. Just contemplating him having his fingers on the nuclear button is outright frightening. — Herbert S. Strauss
