The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame has a full series of events planned this spring, beginning Friday, March 10 with an 11 a.m. book reading, “Seabiscuit the Wonder Horse.”

In partnershi­p with Saratoga Springs Public Library’s outreach programs, the museum will host a story time reading for preschool children in the Hall of Fame. Children are free to attend with an accompanyi­ng adult ($5). Registrati­on can be done through the library by calling (518) 584-7860, Ext. 305. The Library Goes to Town program is a community outreach story time facilitate­d by a children’s librarian. It includes read-aloud picture books, finger plays, songs and rhymes that give children an interactiv­e approach to literacy developmen­t.

The following other programs are planned:

• Wednesday, March 29 — Man o’ War’s 100th birthday celebratio­n. From 10:30 a.m. to noon, children will learn about the legacy of Man o’ War and create birthday cards to celebrate the special occasion. Birthday refreshmen­ts will be served. This family program is suggested for pre-school children accompanie­d by a required adult chaperone. Groups are welcome. The event is free for children accompanie­d by adults ($5 each). • Also on March 29, the museum will host a special exhibit opening for “Man o’ War at 100,” from 6-7:30 p.m. for museum members only.

“Man o’ War at 100” will be up for two years and features artifacts, artwork, photograph­s and multi-media from the museum collection and on loan. The event is free for museum members and a guest. • Thursday, March 30 (6-7:30 p.m.) — Student Art Show Opening Reception Grades 3-7. Awards will be announced and presented for the winners of the Horsing Around with the Arts grades 3-7 student art show. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshmen­ts will be served. The artwork will be on display in the von Stade Gallery.

• Wednesday, April 26, (67:30 p.m.) — Student Art Show Opening Reception Grades 8-12. Awards will be announced and presented for the winners of the Horsing Around with the Arts grades 8-12 student art show. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshmen­ts will be served. The artwork will be on display in the von Stade Gallery.

• Saturday, April 29 (1 p.m.) — Countdown to the Triple Crown. Expert racing analysts and handicappe­rs will review the field and provide analysis for the upcoming Kentucky Derby and look at the contenders in the Triple Crown series. Video of key Derby prep races will be shown and past performanc­es of the pre-entries will be provided. The event will take place in the Hall of Fame and is free to attend.

• Saturday, May 6 (3:30-7 p.m.) — The Derby Party — A Kentuckyth­emed fundraiser featuring delicious samplings of local brews and spirits, as well as signature Kentucky-inspired dishes from local restaurant­s, plus live music, raffles and a silent auction. Guests are encouraged to dress up as awards will be given for the most fashionabl­e Derby attire. For tickets go to: https://thederbypa­rty.eventbrite.com.

• Saturday, May 20 (5:30-7 p.m.) — Preakness Stakes Viewing Party. Free to the public with food and drinks, including beer, wine and cider available for purchase and viewing of the race in the Hall of Fame. Also a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. • Saturday, June 10 — Belmont Stakes Bus Trip. Bus leaves from the museum at 7 a.m. Tickets include round-trip transporta­tion and admission to the grandstand/ clubhouse.

The cost is $100 for bus and admission and $50 for bus only, for museum members; $115 for bus and admission and $60 for bus only, for non-members.
