SCHUYLERVI­LLE - Mary Barnes Aldridge, 78, passed peacefully, with family and caregivers by her side on Wednesday morning. After a long illness Mary has moved on to a better place to be with loved ones who have gone before her. Aruba was her “heaven on earth”, but now she joins her husband of 30 years in heaven above, where the suffering can no longer follow them.

Mary leaves behind her daughter Deborah Yackel and her husband Richard and their three children, Rick, Ben, and Lyndsey. As well, her son, Rodger L. Aldridge Jr. and his wife Jennifer and their five daughters, Erin, Amanda, Brooke, Hunter, and Carley. Especially fond she was of her four great grandsons, Sawyer, Hudson, Levi, and Beckett. Also left behind were many special in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Mary is predecease­d by her parents, Robert and Violet (Fuller) Barnes and her brother, Robert (Bud) Barnes and her husband, Rodger Lindon Aldridge Sr. Mary was also prede of. ceased by in-laws, nieces, and nephews of whom she was very fond

Mary was born in ville, NY on September 27, 1938 and graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1955 and SUNY Pots teach hus Septem dam in 1959 with a ing degree. She spent her entire teaching career in the Schuylervi­lle Central School system. It is here that she married her band, Rodger on ber 1st, 1961 and raised their two children, Rodger Aldridge (Tupper Lake, NY) and Deborah Yackel (Williamson, NY). Mary and Rodger were dedicated residents of Schuylervi­lle where they served their school, church, and community.

During her 38 years of teaching Kindergart­en, 2nd and 6th grade in Schuylervi­lle, she touched thousands of children’s lives. After she retired from teaching, she spent several years traveling the world with friends. She loved the adventure of seeing new places, and return a ing home with videos and pictures to share with her family. She loved to garden and paint. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. She enjoyed reading and doing special activities with all of them. She was always teacher at heart. She will be greatly missed.

Friends can call on the family at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylervi­lle between 2-4pm on Saturday, March 25, 2017 with a memorial service to follow at 4pm. There will be a reception at the United Methodist Church after the service.

Spring burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylervi­lle.
