Official to speak Monday at college
By staff SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Thomas Caulfield, senior vice president and general manager of GlobalFoundries’ Fab 8 facility, in Malta, will present “Semiconductors: The Industry that Changed the World,” at 5 p.m. Monday at Skidmore College’s Gannett Auditorium in Palamountain Hall.
The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
Caulfield joined the company in 2014 and leads the operations, expansion and rampup of semiconductor manufacturing production at Fab 8. His career has included engineering, management and global operational leadership with leading technology companies including Soraa, Ausra, Novellus Systems, Inc. and IBM.
Caulfield will discuss the importance of collaboration in the semiconductor industry, and will share insights acquired throughout his 30-year career leading and managing global technology companies. He will also discuss the rapidly changing semiconductor sector and where he sees the industry’s future growth.
Skidmore’s annual F. William Harder Lecture in Business Administration was inaugurated in 1985 through the generosity of F. William Harder, a Skidmore parent who was a trustee from 1968 to 1980. The lecture brings together students and faculty with industry leaders to explore the current business environment and upcoming challenges in the rapidly changing business world.
The program is being held in collaboration with Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership, Saratoga County’s economic development agency since 2014.
