Teens arrested for vandalizing former military base
STILLWATER, N.Y. >> Eight Saratoga County teenagers are facing a felony charge after Stillwater police said they vandalized a former military base.
According to a news release, the arrests are a result of a three-week investigation into the incident, which police said happened March 11 at the former Saratoga Springs Air Force Station, a former military radar base that was closed in 1977.
Police said the teens entered the base and caused damage to a building there. The suspects fled when they caused an alarm to be activated.
Evidence from the scene resulted in eight individuals being identified, police said, and all were charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and third-degree criminal trespass. Those charged were:
• Liam Morrison, 16, of Saratoga Springs
• Payton Young, 17, of Saratoga Springs
• Patrick W. Waite, 16, of Porter Corners
• Liam Erway, 16, of Saratoga Springs
• Zachary A Zwijacz, 17, of Saratoga Springs
• Matthew Styczynski, 17, of Saratoga Springs
• Preston Buhrmaster, 16, of Ballston Spa
• Nicholas J. Rose, 16, of Ballston Spa
All of the suspects were released pending prosecution in Stillwater Town Court. The investigation was conducted by Stillwater Police Department 1st Sgt. Ray Cordani and Sgt. Paul Pecor. The Saratoga Springs Police Department assisted in the investigation.
