BOOK BOUND: The First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa book club discusses “The Red Garden” at 4:30 p.m. The book club meets on the second Monday of each month. DASA & CHARACTER EDUCATION: On Monday, April 10, Saratoga Springs City School District will present a program on DASA (Dignity for All Students Act) and character education. The program, put on by the District’s Parent University committee and the District’s DASA committee, will discuss what DASA is, how the DASA law impacts school procedures and ongoing initiative to include monthly character education traits into the curriculum. BOARD OF EDUCATION BUDGET WORKSHOP:
Saratoga Springs City School District residents will consider a school budget proposal for the 2017-18 school year on Tuesday, May 16. District residents are invited to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Saratoga Springs High School Meade Auditorium. The workshop will include a vote by board members concerning adoption of the budget. GORDON CREEK PARENT WORKSHOP:
The Gordon Creek Elementary School in Ballston Spa will host an evening workshop focusing on coping strategies for childhood anxiety on April 11, at 7 p.m. Local Psychologist, Dr. Randy L. Cale will discuss strategies that allow parents to reduce anxiety in the home, start healthy habits and get students on track for success. The program, sponsored by the PTA, is free, open to all and will be held in the Gordon Creek Elementary School Library. MOREAU LAKE STATE PARK: Moreau Overlook Hike, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This hike is one of the most strenuous hikes at Moreau, 0.9 miles up to the beautiful view of Moreau Lake. This is a steep hike and towards the end it gets a bit rocky. Bring plenty of water and a snack or lunch to eat at the overlook.
