Quiz Bowl tournament April 27
Teams from Saratoga Springs High School to compete next week
By staff SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Teams from Saratoga Springs High School will compete in the third annual Jeopardy-style Quiz Bowl tournament at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27 at Canfield Casino in Congress Park.
Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for students and free for museum members.
All proceeds will benefit Saratoga Springs History Museum’s educational programming. Every year more than 900 students participate in programs at the museum in Canfield Casino.
Students may be asked questions such as: What was the name of the Native American tribe that brought Sir William Johnson to drink from High Rock Spring in 1771? What was the name of the battle fought after the Treaty of Ghent was signed, officially ending the War of 1812?
Students will be tested on their knowledge of local history, world and national history, geology and geography.
“This is such an exciting event,” Abigail Crotty, a museum board member and high school teacher, said in a news release. “The last two years were absolutely outstanding. We had always wanted to hold a competition like this for students and it was just great. It’s a fantastic way to meet the educational mission of the museum and engage students and their families.”
The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For more information, call (518) 584-6920 or go to www.saratogahistory.org.
