Rewire Group hosts open house, announces Rewire Energy

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> The ReWire Group hosted an open house on April 27 at Saratoga CoWorks on Regent Street to announce the formal launch of ReWire Energy. The company plans to provide residential, commercial and municipal clients with the tools and services to enable access to solar power, distributed energy, energy efficiency and ultimately lower-cost energy solutions.

The company is a collaborative effort of the Evans brothers and their father, Milton Evans, all of whom bring a diverse set of skills and expertise to the business. The idea of going into the energy business came from Warren Evans, a former nuclear engineer who is a graduate of RPI and Stevens Institute of Technology. Warren had “gone solar,” as another brother describes it, and he had a vision of developing a consulting company that would benefit from each brother’s unique talents and background, offering holistic solutions to energy problems for small businesses, as well as homeowners.

“We are data-driven and analytical,” says Ken Evans, whose background is in finance and business development. His brother, Alan Evans, a senior software development and production manager, brings technology skills to the table. The company’s offering includes HELIOS, a proprietary financial analysis tool that includes cashflow modeling, strategic implementation, technology planning and ongoing maintenance for residential and commercial clients today and into the future.

According to Lee Evans, who handles marketing and business development, ReWire strives to empower its customers to economically and efficiently choose clean, independent and renewable energy sources and to eventually transform the industry by providing customers with the ability to produce their own clean energy to efficiently power their homes, business and communities, becoming full energy market participants.

ReWire is also focused on the community and individual wellness component. That’s where Glenn Evans, offers his expertise in the field of health and wellness. Family patriarch Milton Evans oversees the group and helps facilitate and perpetuate their shared dream.

“ReWire will leverage its strong energy modeling capabilities to design solutions comprised of energy efficiency measures, solar, battery storage and on-site power generation with our analytical and digital capabilities to provide customers – residential, multifamily property owners, commercial enterprise, municipalities and power producers – with more effective energy solutions,” said Warren Evans. “The creation of this venture is a culmination of our longterm vision and commitment to take energy services to the next level and to help usher in the transition to the new smart energy future.”

“We’ve been championing the move to smart energy since our inception. Energy is a key part of our identity and is clearly an important mission for present and future generations. As part of that future, we see solar combined with digital technology as a major component of the ReWire model. We have an opportunity as a startup to spearhead significant change in how energy is managed and delivered,” said Lee Evans.

“Businesses can’t afford complexity and inefficiency in energy solutions if they are to remain competitive. They are looking for ‘future ready’ solutions. From home to the grid, we realize that a series of interconnected energy and digital resources will change the game, giving us the unique ability to customize our offerings regardless of the scenario or customer,” he added.

ReWire recently opened its headquarters at the Saratoga Springs CoWorks, with an additional presence to be developed in the southern NJ, Philadelphia, PA region. The company expects to create roughly ten new jobs within the next few years, focused on customer acquisition, energy services management, financial modeling, and software development.

The open house attracted engineers, architects, solar professionals, and proponents of clean and sustainable energy. Ken Evens noted that there were a lot of synergies in the group and the ReWire team was excited about promoting a collaborative mindset and business model.

While ReWire is a relatively new company, there were customers on hand at the open house who were available to lend testimonials about the company’s effectiveness. Dr. Todd Jorgensen, one of the owners of Adirondack Rehab Medicine at 17 Main Street, Queensbury, talked about how ReWire has helped them save money on their energy bills.

“Our office is in a building that’s more than 60 years old,” said Jorgensen.

They hired ReWire to perform an audit of their entire system, including who they bought their energy from, where they were losing money through inefficiencies and how they could physically expand their existing space and be more energy efficient.

“The ReWire group performed a thorough analysis, which included an assessment of our upfront costs, the interest on our loans, and the return of investment on our energy-savings initiatives,” said Jorgensen, adding that “In less than one year, we have already seen a significant return on our investment.”

He said it wasn’t as simple as making a change to LED lighting or replacing drafty windows.

“They helped us to make significant changes and improvements to the existing infrastructure,” said Jorgensen.

The improvements included adding to the existing solar panels that are already in place on the building, as well as adding a tracking system that will allow the Jorgensen to see how much they are saving in energy costs.

“We want to function as a referral and networking company,” said Evans.
