Coach wins Flying Pig Marathon on 7th try

CINCINNATI>> A high school cross country coach has won Cincinnati’s Flying Pig Marathon on her seventh running of the race.

Kerry Lee captured the women’s division in 2:53:55 on Sunday. The 42-year-old Lee was second last year, and in 2015, 2013 and 2011. She was third in 2012 and 2014.

Lee coaches at Anderson High School in suburban Cincinnati. Second place went to Wendy Marshall, of Cincinnati, and third place to Katie Aerni, of Belington, West Virginia. Jack Randall, of Dayton, won the men’s race in 2:33:46. The 22-year-old Randall graduated last weekend from the University of Cincinnati. MANAMA, BAHRAIN >> FIFA has signed up Qatar Airways as a sponsor through 2022 when the World Cup is staged in the Gulf nation.

The airline is filling the sponsorshi­p category vacated by Dubai-based carrier Emirates after the 2014 World Cup.

SAN DIEGO>> The game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres has been postponed in the first rainout at Petco Park since 2015. Sunday’s game was reschedule­d as part of a day-night doublehead­er on Sept. 2. The first game will start at 12:40 p.m. and the regularly scheduled game has been pushed back from 5:40 p.m. to 7:10 p.m. It had rained overnight and the forecast was for prolonged showers and possible thundersto­rms. This was the first rainout at Petco since July 19, 2015, a span of 134 games. Prior to the 2015 rainout, there had been 820 games played at Petco Park since the previous rainout in 2006.
