SUPPORTING SCOUTS
Gordon, Parillo honored with Good Scout Award
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Two local men were honored recently with the Good Scout Award for their many years of involvement and support for Boy Scouts of America.
Larry Gordon, a Wilton resident, has been registered in scouting for more than 50 years and is a recipient of the Silver Beaver, the highest award given at the council level.
He was a member of the Saratoga Council and Twin Rivers Council Executive Board and was property chairman for Camp Saratoga, in Wilton, when it was a Boy Scout facility. He has remained active at the property following its transition to the Wilton Wildlife Park and Preserve, and was instrumental in having the Cornell Hill fire tower moved to Camp Saratoga.
Frank Parillo, a Malta resident, was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout in Ballston Spa and has remained active in the community his entire.
He and his wife, Delores, has been involved with the Saratoga Hospital Guild for many years. He also allows local non-profit groups use of The Saratogian parking lot, which he owns, for fundraising purposes. Groups have raised tens of thousands of dollars the past few years through this effort.
The ceremony was held at Saratoga Springs City Center.
Stewart’s Shops Chairman Bill Dake introduced Gordon and his wife, Patricia Watkins, while the Parillos were introduced by Wilton Supervisor Art Johnson.
