CHURCH HISTORY: On Saturday, May 13 at noon the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation will host “The History and Architecture of the Bethesda Episcopal Church” presentation and boxed lunch as part of its annual Historic Homes Tour. This will provide a rare opportunity to view the stunning interior of the historic church tand learn more about its history and architecture while enjoying a boxed lunch provided by The Barrelhouse. The “Lunch and Learn” event takes place at Bethesda Episcopal Church, 41 Washington Street. Tickets must be purchased in advance and cost $20 for SSPF members and $25 for nonmembers. MAMA MEET-UP: Bring the kids and meet local moms at this Weekend Moms Meet Up, noon -1 p.m. during the Saratoga Farmers Market, hosted by Mamatoga. MOTHERLESS DAUGHTERS: On Saturday, May 13 at noon, there will be a gathering for women who have lost their mothers at the Presbyterian New England Congregational Church, 24 Circular St. Saratoga Springs. CAPITAL DISTRICT HUMANIST SOCIETY: A controversy erupted in 2003, with the placement in the Grand Canyon bookstores of a book entitled “Grand Canyon: A Different View,” in which contributors argued that the geologic section exposed in the Grand Canyon, and the canyon itself, are the result of ‘Noah’s Flood’. In 2016, eleven well-credentialed geologists published “The Grand Canyon: Monument to an Ancient Earth”, with the subtitle, “Can Noah’s Flood Explain the Grand Canyon?” Geologist Dr. Frank Wind will contrast the ideas put forth in these two references.
