Grants to fund home repairs

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. >> Low-income homeowners in Saratoga County may be able to get health and safety repairs made at their residences, a news release said.

Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, a nonprofit organizati­ons that helps renovate homes and nonprofit centers, said it was recently awarded grants that will enable it to provide health and safety repairs and accessibil­ity modificati­ons for lowincome homeowners in sites across Saratoga County, at no cost to the homeowners.

Efforts will be focused on homeowners living in traditiona­l, stick-built homes who are older adults, individual­s living with a disability, families with children or active or retired members of the armed services, the release said.

These repairs will preserve affordable homeowners­hip for the households and ensure a safe and healthy living environmen­t, the release said.

The group listed examples of recent projects, including: modifying bathroom with low-threshold shower unit; repairing floors; installing a stair glide; constructi­ng a ramp; repairing or replacing a roof; repairing porch and stairs; and making energy efficiency improvemen­ts (windows, doors, and insulation).
