GALWAY LIONESS BAKE

SALE: The Galway Lioness Club Of Lions District 20-Y2 will hold a Bake Sale at the Village Of Galway Memorial Day In The Park Event on Monday, May 29, starting at 9 a.m. The Village Of Galway Park is located at the Village Intersection of Sacandaga Road, also known as Route 147, and Galway Road. The Galway Lioness Club will also have their new Galway Lioness Cookbook, published in March 2017, for sale at the event. PLANT & PIE SALE: The Glenville Hills Garden Club of Saratoga County will hold a plant and pie sale in the Galway Village Park from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 29. A large selection of perennial plants as well as herbs, flowering shrubs, ground covers, vines, bulbs, berry bushes, and rhubarb will be offered for sale. The plant list will be posted prior to the sale at www.glenvillehillsgardenclub.org. Homemade pies and quiches will also be available for purchase. Proceeds will fund the garden club projects, including community beautification and the sponsorship of students at environmental camps. REALLY BIG BOOK SALE: The annual Really Big book sale will take place Monday, May 29 (Memorial Day), in the Galway Village Park. The Galway Village Park is located at the corner of Sacandaga Rd (Route 147) and East Street in the village of Galway.

Hours of the sale are 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (Friends of the Library members only 8:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. If you’re not a member, you can join then for $5 and get a free book.) The sale is a fundraiser sponsored by the Friends of the Galway Public Library which raises money for library expenditures that are not included in the general operating budget. SARATOGA NATIONAL

HISTORIC PARK: Saratoga National Historical Park, located on Route 4 and 32 in Stillwater, will offer special living history programming and readings which honor Americans who fought and died in the 1777 Revolutionary War Battles of Saratoga. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free. At 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., park staff and volunteers from the public will be invited to read the names of Connecticut men who died in the Battles of Saratoga, battles which marked the “most important battle fought in the world during the last 1,000 years.” At 1 p.m., the sorrowful story of the widow of one of Connecticut’s fallen soldiers will be discussed. BUTTERFLY WALK: There are many opportunities for guided nature walks at Wilton Wildlife Preserve to look for Karner blue butterflies. These walks will take place on Wednesdays through June 22. The walks will be offered twice a day, at 11 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. The walks leave from the parking area for the Old Gick Farm on Route 50 which is just under 4 miles past Wilton Mall. The walks should last about an hour and cover a mile of gently rolling terrain. The walks will not take place if there is rain. Please dress appropriately for weather and insects.
