A TRIBUTE TO LIFE Gertrude (Marks) Isaacson

SARATOGA SPRINGS Gertrude (Marks) Isaacson, 92, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at the Saratoga Center, 149 Ballston Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY.

Born February 6, 1925 in Belman, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Adeline (Kessler) Marks. Gertrude worked at Northrup Grum“Rosie man on Long Island during World War II as a the Riveter”

A large part of Gertrude’s life was spent in the care of her children; painting with oils or water colors or sketching; teaching sewproMume­nding at the Saratoga Springs Continuing Education gram and volunteeri­ng at the Canfield Casino seum cleaning and ing the period clothing as well as dressing the manretirep­icknequins. During her ment years she volunteere­d at the Penn Yan Nursing Home and enjoyed ing up dolls at various flea markets or garage sales. Gertrude would clean the dolls, either repair or make new clothes for the dolls and then give the dolls to any child in need. She also enjoyed assisting her daughter Carolyn sonand in-law Jason with their AcConsisKa­therine counting business in necticut.

In addition to her parents, Gertrude is predecease­d by her husband of 69 years Aaron Isaacson; her ters Adeline Martinsen of Smithtown, NY and Grace Taylor of Beeville,Texas; her daughter Isaascon and granddaugh­Mary ter Berrigan.

SCHUYLERVI­LLE - Joan M. Macklin passed peacefully in her home on May 29, 2017.

She was born MarchM 8, 1927 in Tannersvil­le, NY.

Joan is predecease­d by her husband, Paul C. MackJames lin, Jr., and her parents and Eileen Flahive.

Survivors include her ter, Lenora Joseph of Fish Creek, WI; as well as her three daughters, Katherine Girard (Robert) of Worcester, MA, Christina Austin of Exeter, NH, and Lorraine Conoby (Howard Potter) of Schuylervi­lle, NY. Joan had 6 grandsons, 13 great grand children and 3 great-great grand children.

James (Jimmy) Ballestero

SARATOGA SPRINGS James (Jimmy) Ballestero passed away peacefully Sunday (May 28, 2017) in Glens Falls Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 89 and surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Feb 7, 1928 in Middletown, NY, he was the son of the late AntoConstr­ucnio and Francisca (Prada) Ballestero and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. Over 60 years ago, he and his brother founded and operated M&J tion Company, where he had the privilege of workbrothi­ng with his father, ers and sons. After retiring from heavy constructi­on, he had more time to enjoy his scrap metal passion. An avid outdoorsma­n, he enparents, joyed hunting and fishing with his family and best friend, Inky. Jimmy also loved traveling in Mexico.

In addition to his he is predecease­d by three brothers, Paul, Antonio (Tony) and Ygancio (Inky) Ballestero.

Relatives and friends may call from 9am to 10:30am Saturday morning, June 3, 2017 in the historic Church of St. Peter. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 in the church, brated by the Rev. Thomas H. Chevalier, pastor. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Robert M. Galusha

SCHUYLERVI­LLE - ert M. Galusha, 92, a former resident of North Broad St., passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Albany.

Born December 4, 1924 in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Howard and Frances DeMaranvil­le Galusha.

Mr. Galusha was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was wounded in Belgium and received a Purple Heart and Two Bronze Bata tle Stars. He retired as machinist from Scott Paper in Fort Edward where he had worked for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening and having yard sales.

In addition to his parents, he was predecease­d by his wife, Alice Nevins Galusha; daughter, Cathleen Lewie; brother, William Galusha; and 3 sisters, Helene Roband inson, Velma Nelson Beatrice French.

Survivors include his son, Gary (Michelle) Galusha of Day; granddaugh­ter, Kayla (Mark) Ricardo of Bolton, CT; 2 great grandchild­ren, Dominic and Aubriella; and several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to in Jeannie who helped care for Bob later in life and along with Paul, made the weekly trip to the VA hospital to visit, to Pat Spolyar, a volunteer who visited Bob weekly and always brightened his day, and to the staff of 9C at the Stratexcel­few ton VA who provided lent care for Bob these past years.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 2 in the Bacon Hill Cemetery.
