HOUSING EXPANSION
Brookview Village looks to add 64 more homes
GREENFIELD CENTER, N.Y. » One local community is expanding, with an additional 64 homes coming to Brookview Village. Located at 2025 Route 9N in Greenfield Center, this longtime manufactured home community now has 64 new home sites in a secluded area, set back in the woods.
Brookview Village, along with the New Jersey-based UMH Properties, celebrated this expansion
Tuesday during a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.
Following this, Brookview Village will have a grand opening and open house event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, featuring free food, giveaways, valuable raffle prizes for anyone who views the homes, and local radio station 101.3 The Jockey on site.
The company is also offering promotions for those who decide to be a part of the Brookview Village within a month of attending the open house. Those who buy a home will receive a free Weber gas grill, and anyone who custom orders a home will get a free Nest smart home upgrade.
There are currently four model homes available to tour in the new section of the community. Another 40 home sites are cleared for the first phase of the expansion, with 20 more to follow.
On why this expansion is happening, “Affordable housing is a big need in the area, and I would hope to fill some of that,” said regional director Marty Mancini of UMH Properties, which has operated the local site since the 1970s.
“The demand is there for affordable housing, definitely,” Brookview Village sales manager Stephen Sacks agreed, “especially in this area.”
Sacks noted that these homes, which range from about $120,000 to $160,000 each, cost about half the price of similar stick-built houses, some having as many as three bedrooms and two bathrooms. These new manufactured homes are different than the many already-existing Brookview Village homes, Sacks said, noting that they are more modern, energy efficient, and have larger rooms with easier flow of movement.
The homes are made by three different manufacturers. There are about a dozen different floorplans to choose from, or they can be custom designed. With plenty of options, “They can pick out their decor, their backsplash, the color of the carpeting — the whole nine yards,” Sacks said.
Once purchased, residents lease the land that their home sits on by paying a rental fee. For more information on Brookview Village community, visit www. umh.com or call the office at (518) 893-2989.
