SARATOGA RELAY FOR LIFE: On Friday, June 9, at the Saratoga Springs High School this local fundraiser and survivor’s walk takes place from 6 p.m. to midnight. The program begins at 7 p.m. as Survivors and Caregivers­s receive medals and walk around the track. Individual­s will join in walking the track to raise money to donate to the American Cancer Society. There will be food trucks for dinner or snacks, games and activities for the family, luminary bags to decorate in memory or honoring someone who had cancer. FLAG DAY PARADE: The Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge #161 is putting the final touches on what promises to be one of the largest in the history of Flag Day parades. This year’s parade honors the 100th Anniversar­y of the New York State Police. The Grand Marshal is Major General (retired) Michael R. Van Patten, New York Army National Guard, a Saratoga resident. Also leading the parade will be Honorary Grand Marshals consisting of Elk members from 50 years ago, who helped to start this tradition. FLAG DAY EVENT: Moreau and South Glens Falls Historical Society will hold its annual Flag Day celebratio­n at 1 p.m. Sunday at Parks-Bentley Place, 53 Ferry Blvd. in South Glens Falls. GRANT COTTAGE: ”She Called Him Raymond, A True Story of Love, Loss, Faith and Healing,” 1 p.m. A letter penned in 1944 uncovers the powerful and heartfelt story of Helen Gregg, one of eight children of Irish immigrant parents, raised in the miseries of Hell’s Kitchen during the Great Depression, and Clarence Raymond Stephenson, a young aspiring B-17 pilot from the small, struggling city of Ironton, Ohio. Their captivatin­g and poignant story will be explored by author Ray O’Conor in a program in the Grant Cottage Visitor Center, 100 Mt. McGregor Road, Wilton. The suggested donation for programs is $5 per person.

HUDSON CROSSING TRIATHLON: The eighth Hudson Crossing Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, June 11, at Hudson Crossing Park in Saratoga County. Sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the race includes a 500-yard swim, 12-mile bike ride and 5K run, starting at 8 a.m. The event is free for spectators; cost for racers varies depending on date registered. BUTTERFLY WALK: There are many opportunit­ies for guided nature walks at Wilton Wildlife Preserve to look for Karner blue butterflie­s. These walks will take place on Wednesdays through June 22. The walks will be offered twice a day, at 11 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. The walks leave from the parking area for the Old Gick Farm on Route 50 which is just under 4 miles past Wilton Mall. FLAG DISPOSAL CEREMONY: The Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard Associatio­n will conduct a flag disposal ceremony at the Saratoga National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 14, starting at 9 a.m.. The U.S. Flag Code suggests that when a flag has served its useful purpose, “it should be destroyed, preferably by burning.” For individual citizens, this should be done discreetly so the act of destructio­n is not perceived as a protest or desecratio­n. TANG MUSEUM: The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery presents a live performanc­e of “Trevor” in the exhibition “Janine Antoni & Stephen Petronio: Entangle,” at 4:30 p.m. This solo, performed by Stephen Petronio Company member Nicholas Sciscione, became the starting point for Antoni and Petronio’s “Honey Baby,” an immersive experience featuring a fourteen-minute video of Sciscione folding and tumbling while suspended in a honey-filled environmen­t. “Honey Baby” is on view as part of the Entangle exhibition through July 16.

FREE COMMUNITY PICNIC: On Saturday, June 17, Shaker Museum | Mount Lebanon will host a free community picnic at the historic site beginning at 6 p.m. in the North Pasture, near the Great Stone Barn.
