Make Me Fabulous opens Spa City location
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » One longtime local business is on a mission to make more clients fabulous at its new Spa City location.
Make Me Fabulous, founded in 1997, opened its second location last month inside the Pavilion Grand Hotel at 30 Lake Ave. in downtown Saratoga Springs.
Entrepreneur Alayne Curtiss celebrated this business expansion, along with staff and supporters, at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new the new Make Me Fabulous Salon Spa held Wednesday morning with the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.
The downtown space will operate in addition to the 32 Front St. location in Ballston Spa.
Since Curtiss started Make Me Fabulous more than two decades ago, the business has steadily grown, relocating into larger spaces over the years.
When Curtiss first started Make Me Fabulous from a small space in Malta, it was just wedding hair and makeup.
Now, Make Me Fabulous has two Saratoga County locations, and is offering more services than ever with a wide range of salon and spa services.
At the new Make Me Fabulous Salon Spa, the business has expanded to offering massage sessions, and facials will now be offered in a more relaxing spa environment.
On why Curtiss chose the Pavilion Grand Hotel as her second location, she explained that she and her employees were often on-site there helping bridal parties.
“We were always in this hotel. So when the space became available, I started talking to the general manager and sales director about it,” Curtiss said. “It was just a perfect fit for us. They have been so incredible to us in helping make it happen, and renovating. They’ve just been amazing.”
Furthermore, the Saratoga Lake native said it was always her dream to have a place in Saratoga Springs.
In this new chapter, Curtiss thinks it may be time for her to get out from behind the chair.
“I see my role changing now,” she said, noting that she will put her energy toward support her newly expanded staff of 20 while they focus on satisfying the clients.
Looking ahead, Curtiss aims to add more Saratoga Springs community members to the company’s existing client base of about 3,000 people, while continuing to offer wedding services.
The ultimate goal for Curtiss, she said, is to see Make Me Fabulous continue to grow and open a third area location.
Make Me Fabulous Salon Spa at the Pavilion Grand Hotel is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, or by appointment on Sunday and Monday.
